Shimano shoes are a perennial favorite here in the office, as they receive the same dedication Shimano places in its components, which is to say, very impressive. These particular kicks, the SH-RC9 S-PHYRE Cycling Shoe are Shimano's range-topping road offering and is analogous to its Dura-Ace parts, balancing weight, stiffness, and reliability in an impressively fitting package. Shoe comfort is critical as it's one of your three contact points on the bike, and thankfully, through professional feedback from World Tour racers, this shoe has it in spades. This updated version of the SH-RC9 includes more perforations for increased ventilation in warmer weather, built in drainage holes for rainy conditions, and a striking new green colorway.

Runs long and narrow
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
The shoe seems built with high quality, but the fit is narrow. I have tried RC5/RC7 using same size (42) and I own 2 Shimano MTB XC and Enduro shoes with 42, all fits perfect for me, but RC9 is narrow. I compared RC9 with another pair of Lake CX238 from my friends (left RC9) as attached in photo, you can clearly see the difference

Size chart is WAY off
Although I was dubious from the get go, I ordered a 45 BASED ON THE SHIMANO size chart. As reference I almost always wear a 43.5 (10.5) Even though the internal label on the shoe claims US 10.5, uh....no. Very much 11 plus. just reordered a 44 so we will see what happens

Best shoes and best fit I have ever had
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Great shoes, good fit, easy to tighten and loosen, even tightness, durable, very stiff. Love them. I need a little wider toe box but did not need the wide size, very simple and equal tightening.
