Description

All-around protection.

Scott joins a growing list of companies embracing the new, brain-protecting Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) design, and the ARX Plus earns the distinction of being the first helmet in the company's road line to use the technology. Designed for everyday rides and races, this sleek, versatile helmet uses trickle-down technology from Scott's pro-level helmets to keep you safe in the saddle.

MIPS refers to Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin inner layer that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain-damaging rotational or "sloshing" forces created in crashes at oblique angles. Its presence is hardly noticeable beneath the ultralight, In-Mold polycarbonate/EPS foam body, though — especially with the extensive venting channels Scott added throughout the ARX Plus.

To make sure the helmet isn't sliding around or squeezing your temples, Scott includes its top-end MRAS2 fit adjustment system, which allows for easy customization with the twist of a dial. The helmet is finished with adjustable straps and reflective detailing on the back to help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

  • Scott's first road helmet to offer the MIPS system
  • MIPS low-friction liner dissipates rotational forces
  • Lightweight In-Mold construction with ample ventilation
  • MRAS2 fit system adjusts with twist of a rear dial
  • Reflective decal for enhanced visibility

Love this helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought the Scott ARX Plus and a Giro Foray MIPS days apart. After about 5 rides in each helmet, I conclude that this Scott ARX Plus is a better helmet. It fits better, is quieter and the MIPS webbing inside is more comfortable than the Giro Foray MIPS. They are both nice helmets, but between the two- the ARX plus is the clear winner.

Saved My Skull on a Crash going at 30MPH

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I was attacked by a GS going around 30MPG. The dog missed my leg and got my back wheel spokes. I went down hard and broke my his helmet but I did not blackout. I remembered what happened and limped to the side of the road. I am buying a replacement today and I will be using this brand and model for the rest of my cycling life.
Here is a YouTube video of two riders that the dog missed minutes before it got me - forward to 4:40 to see the dog attacking them.

Got this helmet for my mom. She doesn't have any complaints and says it fits great.

Don't pass because of lower price

I bought this to replace a Scott Vanish Evo which saved my head in a severe impact with the road. For $130 (less on sale), this is a pretty nice helmet. It's got MIPS, is pretty lightweight, and nice looking. Breathes as well as any other more expensive helmet I've had.

Couple of strikes. It doesn't work so well with sliding your glasses into the vents. Also, for cold weather riders the strap is not long enough so that when you have on skull cap and have to adjust the buckle, it's right near the edge, and it's come off a few times. That's bad planning. I don't have a huge head.

Good Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I bought this helmet for my girlfriend who is starting on cycling. It looks really nice, however IMO, it doesn't have that aerodynamic look and feel as a Bell or Louis Garneau helmet. But probably this is just because she likes the black one, and it makes it look like "simple".
Anyways, she really loves it (she actually chose it) and if you like those simple designs this is a great choice. It comes with some stickers that are reflective (pretty cool).
