The best is now better.

POC's Crane Helmet sets the industry standard for lightweight, highly protective dirt-jumping helmets, but the Crane MIPS takes things one step further by incorporating MIPS, a technology designed to protect your grey matter in the case of oblique (from the side) impacts. Most helmets deal effectively with straight-on impacts, which are relatively rare, but don't handle more common side-on rotational impacts very well. MIPS technology allows the polycarbonate and ABS shell to rotate slightly around the EPS foam liner, dispersing impact forces when you fall at an awkward angle (not that you ever would).

The EPS liner is made with two densities of foam, a hard inner layer to protect against high-intensity impacts and a softer inner layer that cushions effectively during slower, low-energy falls. The in-mold construction keeps the Crane MIPS looking sleek and weighing just 420 grams, while the passive vents keep your cerebellum cool and and the size adjustment system helps you nail a perfect fit. The interior of the Crane is even treated with Polygiene, an antimicrobial agent that fights off the bacteria that cause odor, so you won't have to strap your helmet onto the roof rack to enjoy a pleasant ride home from the park.

I got this to replace my boyfriend's crunched mtb helmet. He took a fall on his Trabec Race MIPS helmet (POC0131)- hands down swear by the MIPS now, it WORKS! He wanted a more BMX style helmet, and this is the one. The fit is on point- true to the size chart and other POC helmets. Another plus is how the helmet sits on your head- seems to cradle your head for good protection, especially in the back. The open vents are awesome, allow for easy airflow. All in all, another great model by POC- great for bikes, skate, anything that requires noggin protection!

    Great BMX style lid

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M/L

This is a rad lid. I use it when I'm sessioning at the local Dirt Jumps or skate park. It provides great protection, breathes well for this style of helmet, and has the added benefit of MIPS technology. It fits like all other POC helmets.

Also, will you guys be getting the blue back in stock anytime soon?

    Hey Ben Shore,

At this time we don't have more of these helmets on order in the Radon Blue color. It could be a few months before we get more of that color in stock.

Worn with a Windstopper hat for skiing, could this be a four season helmet?

    Hey Ben Shore,

You could wear this helmet in the winter. Though, it's not designed for skiing, this helmet would still provide protection during a ski fall. It does lack some of the insulation a ski helmet offers, and it won't have adjustable vents like many of the POC ski helmets. However, with a good insulated hat this could work for 4 season use.
