Chain Keeper
Spring for the Pedro's USA Chain Keeper and say goodbye to flaccid chains. The Chain Keeper mounts in your rear drop out, keeping tension on the chain so you can stroke, pull, grease, and clean your chain without worrying about it falling or swinging around. The quick release lever comes in handy for those quickie sessions.

Did The Job Half of One Time
This is among the least durable products I’ve ever used. I should have anticipated that given the price, but was absolutely dismayed at the fact that the two sides split when taking it off my bike after the first use. It went on just fine the first time and held up while in process, but when I took the quick release off the whole thing...released. Super cheap, but not worth the money if you have to replace it every couple of jobs. Would not buy again.

Not a fan
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
It is made of plastic except for the axle, and when you try to latch it on, it feels like it wants to crack. Also, it likes to fall out when turning the cranks.

Great Idea but didn't hold up
Worked great for 3 uses and then split in half. Very cheap plastic construction did not hold up. Returning it and hopefully finding another manufacturer that makes a more durable product.

Respect your chainstays
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
If you love your frame, do it a favor and get this chain keeper. This is a great keeper for those times when you are changing wheels or washing your frame. Keep that greasy chain off your chainstays and in position.

Does exactly what's needed....keeps the chain away from the chain stays wile cleaning the frame with rear wheel out. A bit awkward getting it into pace sometimes. Good value, handy tool.

Gotta Get One!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I waited too long to purchase this great tool. If you take good care of your bike and keep it clean and lubricated, this is a must have piece. It keeps tension on the chain after you remove the rear wheel for cleaning & lubricating your drive train. A clean bike is a happy bike and will reduce wear on your drive train components.

Why didn't I get this years ago?
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is so easy to use, and so obviously useful, I'm stunned that it took me so long to get one. The only caveat, mentioned in other reviews here, is you need to hang onto it when you release it, as the chain tension WILL shoot it across the room or pits! Awfully nice to be able to clean and lube the chain without mucking up the rear wheel or cassette. If you are even so much as considering this, stop, just go ahead and buy it. Short money, well spent.

Second update: Not only do the two sides separate by themselves, the teardrop shape interferes with the thick drive side chain stay on my Cervelo S5. Glad I found the usefulness and shortcomings of chain keepers for short money, now I'm going to upgrade to a Butter B1. If you don't want to spend for a Butter B1, at the very least, get one of these.

Doesn't last forever...but CLOSE
I'm still giving this 5 stars. I have had mine for over ten years, and people always ask, "Hey, where'd you get that?" It finally gave out. I tried gluing it, and that lasted for a few uses, but never quite the same. I'm not complaining at all. I have no problem replacing. It's one of the most used tools in my collection. Probabaly because if you keep your bike clean your more intuned to what is going on with your ride...which leads to less significant maintenance later. A clean drivetrain is a happy one!

Nice gadget
This is a nice little gadget to have if you wash, lube, or service your bike with the wheels off. It is also very helpful to keep tension on the chain if you transport your bike with the wheels off say in your car or in a cycling specific case. I don't like getting cleaner and lubes splashed on my wheels and spokes when washing and lubing my bike but still need to turn the cranks over for your chain cleaner to work this gadget is the answer. One added "feature" to this is that if you don't hold it as you release the QR it will slingshot across the room. Pretty embarrassing way to prove to everybody in the pits that you are a Cat 5 roadie. Other that what I mentioned above I donât believe this baby has any other purpose.

Worth the $10
I didn't add this to my toolbox for a long time because it seemed unnecessary, but it sure is a nice little thing to have. You pop it into the dropout and place your chain in there and it allows you to clean the bike, adjust derailuers, etc. without having a dirty chain slapping all over the right rear chainstay. You can turn the cranks forward and backwards with this in and your chain won't get stuck. Since it is only $10 and one will last you forever, go ahead and buy.

Update: The two plastic sides have decided to come apart too easily. They now separate as I'm installing this in the rear drop-out. Annoying. However, the two sides are keyed, so they go right back together, and there are holes, thru which I'll just stick a couple of machine screws, which should solve this minor annoyance pretty easily.
