PatagoniaDirt Roamer Bike Short - Men's
Item # PAT02BW
Dirt Roamer Bike Short
From Table Mountain, South Africa to the Isle of Skye, Scotland, the Men's Dirt Roamer Bike Short helps you take on tight turns and raw trails with comfort and performance, no matter where you roam. The polyester fabric is lightweight, dries quickly during long days working hard on the trail and is designed to stretch and move as one garment—its seams are sonic-welded for this very purpose, and it shaves off additional ounces as well. Aside from the nearly seamless, chafe-free fit, slimmed legs provide a contoured fit that stays in place during long rides, and a curved waistband follows the natural shape of your hips for extended comfort. The Dirt Roamer does not come with liners, but is designed alongside the Patagonia Endless Ride Liner Shorts and includes snap loops that pair with those or the Patagonia Dirt Craft Bike Shorts.
- Bike shorts for trailblazing rugged routes and rocky terrain
- Polyester blend offers highly breathable, super stretchy performance
- Sonic-welded seams eliminate chafing and promote flexibility
- Adjustable waist can be adjusted with one hand while riding
- Snap loops designed to pair with certain Patagonia liner shorts
- Long inseam covers the tops of knees and low-profile knee pads

Really Liked Them But ...
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
Echo all the positive comments from everyone else however after probably 20 rides the butt seam blew out of them. The seams are glued, so no way to really repair ...

First comment is I LOVE THESE SHORTS. However, the waist adjustment on these is terrible, it looks cool, i'm sure some engineer has it figured out, but i've yet to figure out how it works. My guess is they save millions by not having a buckle and an adjustment that actually works. Patagonia needs to stop over engineering everything, some stuff just works. A belt is a belt and leave it alone please. Love the shorts, love the weight of the material, ride all summer in Arizona, mostly over 100 degrees and these shorts work well over a bibs, zero room for error on the sizing. but i'm finding that's the case with Patagonia top to bottom. XL to big for me. L pretty tight but work much better. 1 or 2 inch shorter with a better waist adjustment and they would be perfect.

I love Patagonia gear but ended up returning these. Soft and comfortable, but the lack of waist adjustment and a pocket that was too small for my iPhone 11 meant they had to go back.

Avoid
- Familiarity:

- Fit:
- Runs large
Tried to post this on Patagonia.com, but have not see them post it. Anyway, bought these from Backcountry. Fell apart after perhaps a dozen rides. Seam tape delaminated and inner thigh seam just opened right up. and the waist cinch doesnt work anymore. I'm between sizes, so they are just a baggy mess. Have owned 20 pairs of Patagonia shorts and board shorts and this is by far the worst and really the only fail.

Fits much tighter vs. Dirt Craft

Thought since I love the Dirt Craft, I would try these. Returning as they are much tighter fit vs Dirt Craft. Fit almost like a tight board short. Will return for Dirt Craft.

These are nearly perfect! Stretchy fabric, super comfortable I would wear these all the time. I wish they were about one inch shorter on the length, but not a deal breaker. Great build quality, just a tad spendy for shorts but for now seem worth it

Patagonia pants/shorts have always been hit or miss for me, but these fit perfect and have performed flawlessly. I understand the ask for more pockets, however, these are so nice and streamlined--that provides advantage, too. My only nit is the odd compression strap (forget what they call it). I've watched a video on it several times and I still can't make sense of it : ) Update: Ok -- maybe not enough coffee. Figured out how to make the cinch strap on side work. Works great and updating to 5 stars.

I truly enjoy these shorts with good padding, nice strong yet soft fabric, and a very well place cell phone pocket. The waist strap does slip loose after a bit of ridding, but is easy to readjust. They can also serve as normal short based on the solid design.

No bells. No whistles. Most of all NO Velcro! If you need cargo space these ain’t it. If you want unbelievably light weight and great fitting shorts to wear over spandex this is your best choice! Range of motion allowed for all cycling positions and they look nice enough to wear for post ride beers if you can handle no pockets. Docked a star because I think they could have worked in at least one traditional pocket that can hold your wallet after the ride.

Bib Covers

The best pieces of cycling apparel are the ones you forget about and the Dirt Roamer shorts are just that. The incredibly minimal fabric breathes and moves with you effortlessly on the bike. No belt loops, velcro straps or extra pockets to get in the way. Personally, I think their main function is to put another layer of fabric between the dirt and your expensive road bibs you wear as "liners." If you're a dirt roadie that wants to fit in with the long-travel crowd, look no further than these shorts!

Rad Light Weight Short
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are awesome if you want a super light, stretchy, comfy bike short. I deduct one star because the lack of pockets limits the types of days/rides I bring these on... but I do a lot of quick rides during/after work and for quick rides where I have no need for pockets I love how light and simple these are. If you ride with a pack normally then you could use these for any ride, but I try to avoid packs so pockets are pretty important to me on longer rides where I need to bring phone and snack. To clarify, these shorts have one pocket that fits a phone perfectly well. Just not much room for anything else.

If your looking for a pair of riding baggies that you hardly notice when pedaling, the Patagonia Dirt Roamer is a solid option. Welded seems, stretch fabric, one side pocket make these the most comfortable pair of baggies in my collection. Pair with the Endless Ride Liner bib chamois and you have the most comfortable baggie/chamois combo on the market. If you like a heavier weight, longer cut, pockets galore type baggie, these won't be for you! But if you like the idea of wearing boardshorts that stretch and fit nothing more than an Iphone, these are the ticket!

Awesome Mountain bike Shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Received 2 pair of Patagonia Dirt Roamer shorts recently. It is still winter here in Montana so riding is a little tough right now, but I can tell by the fir and function that these shorts will be awesome to ride in this spring. The fit is about right, long inseam, excellent stretch. They are uncomplicated and straight to the point.

Yup, these are still my favorite mtb shorts. I really appreciate how light and stretchy they are - once they're on, I barely notice they're there. While I haven't measured my quads recently, they are not small and I have plenty of room in these shorts. I ran knee pads for the first time yesterday and the Dirt Roamer shorts felt great - no hang-ups, etc. The waist adjustment is solid (pull hard if it doesn't move at first, it will). I use the leg pocket more pre and post ride to carry my keys, wallet or phone - during rides, I prefer to have all that stuff in my pack. This material dries quickly and the DWR has stuck with them better than expected.

New favorite shorts - 40 miles in
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I got the Patagonia Dirt Roamer Shorts last week to check them out and have ridden about 40 miles so far - I was looking for a lightweight short to wear over my bibs on hot summer days in Park City. The Dirt Roamer shorts have been fantastic so far - they are super light, but still durable, and have a ton of stretch. There is one pocket on the outside of the left quad that fits an iPhone X in it's case, no problem. There is a pull-tab waist adjustment on the right hip, which is really just for micro adjusting from what I can tell - definitely get these in your actual size, having them fit snug but not too tight is key since they don't have belt loops. I'm writing this review as I sit here wondering if I should buy another pair in a different color because I think I just found my new favorite mtb overshort.

Not for me
I have a 33" waist and about 41" thighs. Even with the stretch material, which was great, it was tight through the thigh area. I will stick with the Yeti shorts.

Did you mean 21" thighs? I am trying to picture a 33" waisted person that has a 41" thigh. Is that a combined total of both thighs?
