We think about drivetrain protection as risk management, and the Grown Bashguard is engineered with that mindset from the ground up. Built using a topological optimization process, the guard distributes impact force evenly across both ISCG 05 mounting points regardless of impact angle, protecting the chainring, chain, frame, and derailleur from rock strikes and hard line choices.

At 24.4 grams, it's a negligible weight addition for the protection it offers, machined from aerospace aluminum and CNC-milled for tight tolerances. The mounting system uses two bolt options: aluminum bolts designed to shear before damage reaches the frame's ISCG 05 threads, and stainless steel bolts that hold slightly more force for riders on alloy frames. Carbon frame owners should stick with the aluminum bolts specifically, since they're calibrated to fail safely rather than transferring stress into the frame.

Compatibility covers nearly all ISCG 05 mount frames, supporting chainrings up to 34T and oval rings up to 32T, with a hole spacing of 53 to 57mm across most common mounts.

Riders running rocky, technical terrain where chainring strikes are a regular risk will get the clearest benefit from adding the Grown Bashguard to their build.
