Aluminum wheels have come a long way, and the Mavic Aksium 1 Disc makes a strong case for how capable an everyday wheelset can be. Built around a 21mm internal width S6000 aluminum rim, it accommodates tire sizes from 25mm up to 64mm and is fully tubeless ready using Mavic Tubeless Tape (not included). That opens up a wide range of road and light gravel applications without requiring a dedicated second wheelset.

The Instant Drive 360 freewheel system sits at the center of what makes this wheelset feel sharp in use. Riders can configure the ratchet engagement to either 24t for lower drag or 40t for quicker power pickup, depending on the terrain and riding style they prefer. A large contactless rubber seal keeps friction low and contamination out, and serviceability is tool-free when cleaning or rebuilding the freewheel body. QRM Auto bearing preload technology handles axle bearing health automatically, maintaining consistent spin and eliminating play over time without manual adjustment. Steel J-bend spokes in a 2-cross pattern front and rear round out a build focused on long-term reliability and field serviceability.
