Bumpy backroads and long miles on the bike can sure put a hurt on your hands, but Louis Garneau aims to take the sting away with the Air Gel Ultra Glove. Garneau claims that the Air Gel Ultra Gloves feature more gel padding than any other glove on the market, so you can count on them to absorb those vibrations from harsh potholes and gravel roads alike. The gloves feature a whopping 5-millimeters of anatomically targeted Biogel padding placed around the palm to help keep the blood flowing and prevent numbness, while Ergo Air X-Vent allows air to keep flowing freely through your palm, so padding doesn't have to equal sweaty paws. Since durability is a must for long hours on the bike, the palm is made with GTEX synthetic leather that holds up to the abuse.

They fit and perform as I had hoped. I have always purchased medium size gloves, and these are true to size.

Was hesitant at first, has been great

When I first tried these gloves on I was a bit hesitant at first. They fit significantly looser and ran large. I normally am a medium and ordered a medium. However this glove felt much more like a large. The thumb has extra material to help pull them off -- this actually extended more than I normally would have liked but wound up being fine. I also tend to avoid gloves with significant padding due to past experience with pinching, numbness or rubbing issues. These gloves have HUGE pads toward the bottom of the palm. The overall padding shape seems to decrease as it gets closer to the fingers. All in all it almost felt like a baseball catchers mitt. The mitt feeling had me very hesitant to give them a try and I teetered on the fence of returning. Decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised. First couple rides were 2-4 hours long and the padding actually helped my hands fall into position onto the shifter hoods **absolutely perfectly**! In each ride I would honestly almost forget I was wearing the gloves. No rubbing, no pinching, no awkward pad locations. Just perfect interface between hands and handlebar. Will see how they hold up after a number of washes but so far these have been some of the best gloves ever.

Runs slightly small, but more than makes up for this by having among the highest levels of padding I have found..

OK padding

The pads are thick, but I hesitate to call the material "biogel". it just feels like fairly dense foam. when i took up cycling in 1990, i had a cheap pair of no-name gloves that had real fleshlike gel pads. It took several year to wear them out and i never found a direct replacement. these are pretty good gloves overall, though. they fit as expected.

Plush For The Palms

For those who want the most padding between their palms and the grips this is a great glove. If you have any nerve sensitivity this would be a glove to consider. If on the other hand you want nothing to impede hand feel, then I would not recommend this glove. I love them. They fit true to size, are well-made and look great too.

They're big, very big

OK, I don't have the largest hands in the world, but I do wear XL Specialized biking gloves. I honestly think my wife's (admittedly very small) hands could have fit in with mine in these gloves (I bought the XL size). They're huge. So if you have BIG hands, these could be perfect. That said, I think the GARNEAU size chart is likely accurate. I knew they were likely too big but XL was the only size available, so I decided to give them a try. Luckily I also bought a pair of similar Specialized gloves and as mentioned above they fit me fine. But the reason for the 3 stars is because I don't think the padding on the GARNEAU is as good as the padding of the Specialized.
