Description

Strada Gel Glove

The road is smooth, choppy, rough, and not really a road at all. This is the typical experience of most cyclists and the reason Giordana made their Men's Strada Gel Glove.

The back is designed to be soft and form-fitting, the kind of thing you're happy to pull on and keep on all day. It's made of Lycra and moves with you. The thumb is covered in a soft, synthetic terry material, because all of us, even those who claim otherwise, have a nose that needs wiping in the cold and a brow that needs wiping in the heat.

The palm starts with a durable microfiber base. Three separate regions of gel padding are then added: one under the thumb, one under the heel, and one across the ball. The thumb and heel are covered with material that breathes, while the ball is covered with microfiber that grips. And an extra grip treatment has been added to the thumb pad as well.

The Giordana Men's Strada Gel Glove has reflective elements on the back. It is secured to the hand with a hook-and-loop closure. Sizes run from Small to X-Large.

  • Ergonomic foam gel padding dampens vibrations to reduce fatigue
  • Four-way stretch back of hand for freedom of movement
  • Reflective accents for low-light safety

Pretty good gloves when you want padding

The gloves fit well and have a decent amount of padding all around for when you grip the bars in any position. However, it feels like I have to be careful with the Velcro given the soft material so that they don't rip when being taken off. Additionally, not that this totally matters, the decals will come off in no time at all (I kind of like it better this way) which seems odd from a branding perspective for Giordana. Overall, I've worn them for 1,000 or so miles without any legitimate issues.

Bought a pair to swap out and compare with other gloves. Nicely padded and think they'll do the job. Will see how the last.

I love the fit and feel of these gloves. I have used them for about 125 miles and I can see that they will not last long. The problem is that the velcro attaches to the fabric on the back of the hand. When you pull it off, you can see that it is already starting to weaken the fabric. It's too bad because they are really comfortable.

Too much of a good thing!

More is not always better... I wanted to find a padded glove that would take the sting out of rough asphalt, and I thought these would do the trick. Graphics are cool, quality is good, but the bulk of the gel is crazy. The gel along the palm is not positioned correctly so when you are riding with your hands on the bar tops, it forces the knuckles of your hand up and wrenches the wrist in a risky way (bad for the nerves). Also, when pulling a bottle out the gel protrudes so much that you can't fully grip the bottle and it is easy to fumble. The only position that works ergonomically is when your hands are positioned on the hoods. Other than that, for me, these gloves are way off the mark.

I have purchased other brands what I thought were good GEL gloves for my hands that get soar and numb during rides. But there is no comparison! These are by far superior! The extra gel is placed in all the right places and needed for riders like me. My hand numbness is by far the best it’s ever been. Very comfortable. I would size down as they do break in and stretch more than I expected. I returned 2 XL new pair and sized down to large.

Excellent gloves, comfortable thick padding and well made. Not too hot, Ive tried quite a few and these were perfect for me and half the price of a lot of others that I would consider equals.

    Hefty, thick padding, adequate fit

These are solid for an entry-level glove. I find them a bit heavy overall, the padding is pretty thick, almost too thick to keep a good feel on the bars. I ordered a large per the sizing guide and they were a little sloppy, if you're between sizes I might recommend sizing down. All in all, these are solid gloves that perform well for an entry-level buy. The soft fabric on the back of the thumbs comes in handy when wiping sweat or a runny nose (or rain from the sunglasses when I got caught in an afternoon thunderstorm) and even if the padding is a bit heavy for my preferences, you've got plenty of it.

I have tried gel padded gloves for years and always wished I could really feel the isolation from vibration that would help numbness and arthritis problems. Well, Giordana finally did that in spades. Yes, the padding is thick, but it seems to be in the right places, especially at the bottom of the palm where you put weight in any bar position but also at the base of the fingers that comes into play when you ride on the hoods as much as I do. Otherwise the fit , fabric and color (red) are high quality, just what I expect from Giordana. I have large, thin hands like a spider monkey and there's no extra material to get in the way. Gloves are not hard to get off even though there are no (non-aero) pull loops. I'm a pavement roadie and these gloves will be worn on any rides long or short. I bet they would be great for gravel or other rough roads too.

Lots of gel makes for a very comfortable ride. Before using these gloves, I'd been experiencing a lot of hand numbness; these gloves produced no numbness or tingling. A good glove for gravel riding! Highly recommend

One of the Best clothing investments made. Although it took me 200 miles to break-in over gravel and MTB terrain as well as the challanging roads of Detroit, once I passed the mileage sign, the gel had conformed to my hands and I was free to think about anything else on the menu. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

My first reaction on putting these on was "wow, that's a lot of padding!". That faded in the first few minutes on the bike and they just felt so comfortable I stopped even noticing them. The solid lycra backs make them warm enough (for me) even on chilly mid-50 degree mornings, helpful when conditions will get warmer after an hour or two. I also like the large microfiber wipe areas on the thumbs, less likely to get saturated with sweat and therefore useless like the smaller ones on other summer gloves I have. It's fall, so too late to test them under really hot conditions.

Everyone has their own ideas about gear. Some like gloves with thick pads, some like gloves with no pads and some don't wear gloves at all.... so. These gloves have very thick pads in all the proper places, fit nicely and don't look like a canary pooped on your hands... awesome sauce for my road bike. Get some.

I have oversize bars on my bike and gel/cork bar tape. The gel in these gloves is too thick for me. I have had pain in my hands/wrists for weeks now after using these gloves. The oversize bars probably don't help.

Lots of miles (80+) sure feel better with lots of padding on the hands. These gloves fit that bill. They're exactly what I was looking for. And the manufacturer (Giordana) is my current favorite. For races, however, I return back to gloves with little padding in order to maximize the feel of the bike.

If you like a glove with a lot of padding, this may be the glove for you. With a sensitive Ulna nerve, I have battled with numbness in my hands throughout 40 years of riding. These gloves have the most padding I've ever experienced and so far there has been no numbness. I plan to order more pairs in order to make sure I'm always prepared.
