Why We Like The Giordana SilverLine Bib Short

Good bibs can make or break a ride, no doubt about it. We refuse to bargain shop on shorts if it means sacrificing materials or fit. Every once and a while a pair of bibs come along that exceeds our expectations. Giordana's SilverLine Bib Short are a great example and prove that you can find comfort and value in a pair of bibs that simply perform well and look great.

Giordana constructs the SilverLine out of a textured silky woven fabric which wraps around the leg with two panels. This helps supports the quads and the glutes separately and provides compression to reduce muscle fatigue and wicks moisture away from your skin. The core system stabilizes the short while accommodating the waist and hips for a comfortable fit that stays in place. This results in a fit that's comfortable and unrestrictive, yet perfectly supportive with just the right amount of compression. A plush Cirro chamois is highly breathable and provides plenty of cushioning adding comfort for your day in the saddle.

Soft wide elastic-microfiber bib straps constructed from LoPro 0 are seamless, super comfortable, and disappear under the jersey. At the center of the bib uppers are the 190 Mesh fabric to move moisture keeping you cool and dry. Holding the legs securely in place throughout your perfect spin is the supportive 4.5cm elastic leg cuffs. The short's reflective rear striping at the back of both legs amplify your blinky and car headlights ensuring safety at dawn and dusk.

So comfortable!

Super confortable bibshort. The fabric has a nice feeling, not excessively tight. Perfect fit for me, it doesn’t move at all when riding or standing on the pedals. The pad is really good, right level of padding without being too thick. Size L for me, 6f1 and 174 lbs, same sizing as Castelli… I saw some reviews about the bibshort not being durable,,, I wash my shorts in a mesh laundry bag to preserve them, and hang them to dry: so far so good, they are like new.

Do The Job, But Not My Go-To Bibs

These are perfectly adequate bibs for a short to medium distance casual or training ride. To be entirely fair to Giordana, if that’s what you want them for, then for sure give them a shot. There are however, some big differences between these and higher end bibs, whether in the Giordana range, or from competitor brands. First, the positives. The chamois itself is quite nice. It isn’t quite to the level of the FR-C Pro, but is still comfortable and supportive without feeling Iike a diaper. The fabric for the legs is also comfortable, though again, with a very casual feel. Big areas of opportunity exist when it comes to the leg grippers, waist band, and bib straps, in my opinion. The leg grippers are almost entirely ineffective on these bibs and I find myself adjusting the end of the legs multiple times per ride. The waist band is cut quite a bit lower than some of Giordana’s other bibs, which for me manifests in uncomfortably cutting into my stomach while riding. Last, but not least, the straps are a very weak elastic material that does not provide any real tension - perhaps if the straps were more robust the wait cutting in wouldn’t be an issue as I generally have to hike the shorts up mid-ride. It is worth noting that I already own 5 pair of Giordana FR-C Pro bibs and ordered these in the same exact size. The compression is far lower on the legs and again, the bib straps themselves are far less robust and effective. Perhaps if I sized down they would be better, but that’s also frustrating to wear different sizes in the same brand. Ultimately these are nice enough, but even at a reduced price compared to the higher tier FR-C Pro versions I don’t think are worth the money. There are much better bibs available at the same price point or lower than these.

Where have these been all my cycling life? These fit great, and they’re not kidding about the chamois, no chamois cream is necessary. My only question at this point is how they’ll hold up over time.

After about six months and probably 40 rides and washes, I'm getting ready to retire this pair. While the chamois held up and is quite comfortable, the fabric simply started thinning in random places. I've had about six pairs of bibs so far and these are the most expensive and comfortable, but also the least durable.

Pics or it didn't happen, pic included. My best man and I (along with my wife) rode 3 hours to the top of a mountain in Giordana Silverline, got married, and bombed back down. Giordana does clothing right. They do run pretty standard sizing, not euro. I am 5'7" 130 lbs and wear XS.

I have about 25 rides on these and I'm pretty hard on my gear (but delicate when washing). They fit snug but very comfortable. Never had to adjust once I'm on the bike and riding. Will purchase a second pair very soon.

Bought 2 pairs. Red and blue. Both pairs got a wear hole in same position on my inner right thigh within a few rides. Shammy in blue pair entirely detached within 10 or so rides. Very disappointed.

Wow, impressed so far

After wearing Castelli for over 20 years I returned my Castelli that I had purchased from cc two weeks ago (which ran smaller now than a few years ago) and got a pair of these Giordana Silver line bib shorts in the same size, which is XL (at the recommendation of a Cc rep who raved about the Giordana silverline) these fit properly and at trying on feel super comfortable, the flat elastic straps sit flat, opposed to mesh straps which can roll up. I love the textured legs and sides on these, they look great and seem to be more durable. They remind me a bit of upper line Assos models I've heard from many reviews here, YouTube, and other places that Giordana silverline are the BEST sub $200 shorts available. From seeing them I have to agree (so far) from inspecting them in person. I'm going to start using them and I will update this review after a few months of using them. Btw, I got them in navy blue, I like that there are no loud 1990's logos, they are very good looking, and much more expensive looking than they are.
