Why We Like The Five Ten Trailcross Clip-In Cycling Shoe

With the Five Ten Trailcross Clip-In Cycling Shoe, we don't have to sacrifice off-the-bike grip for on-bike control when we head out on the trail. When the trail gets tough or too steep, and we have to hike our bike, the Stealth Marathon rubber outsole adds ample grip, ensuring we're not slipping around on loose, rocky terrain. The 2-bolt cleat-compatible design gives us a highly efficient pedal stroke every time, while the EVA midsole helps soak up big drops and trail chatter.

Thank you Adidas, for 60% off!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shoe has a very stiff center shank. However, the toe box has flex and cleat placement will need to slide down towards the firm arch area, in order to achieve the desired power transfer. So basically the shoes will engage just slightly behind the ball of your foot. I already tried mounting the cleats in the flexy forefoot zone and I felt power was being wasted, as the shoe was either draping over the pedals on the downstroke and bending excessively on the upstroke. I do understand the shoe was originally designed for gravel, bike packing and frequent off-saddle hike a bike. Adidas has mitigated the slight loss of pedal efficiency by firming up the center shank and any cleat mounting furthest back on the shoe will result in XC like power transfer and stability. The deep recess of the cleat bed also reduces cleat contact with hard walking surfaces.

Way to stiff, bad discription.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The said these shoes are good for riding and walking. They were extremely stiff, like a board.

Best for Trail, All-Mountain and Enduro

This is a great, durable and lightweight shoe, with stiff center sole. The wide toe box does flex, to facilitate off the bike walk ability. Cleat placement is best mounted towards the arch area, for optimal power transfer. Despite what the critics say - the Trailcross Clip is actually perfect for Enduro riding too. Ventilation is ideal for warmer days and the shoe can adhere to most gnarly surfaces. The shoe replaces a Enduro Leatt BOA shoe which weighs a ton.

Good concept but too narrow and ditch the velcro

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good concept of a shoe but runs too narrow for me. I have a pair of the 5/10 that looks like their flat, skater shoes, but clipless. The edges are so high that they cut into my ankles. The width of the toebox was good though. So, I thought I would try these on. The design and comfort seems like they would work, but only if your feet run on the narrow side. I have this problem with lots of MTB shoes so this is not unusual. I also could do without the velcro up top. It usually just messes with the laces. So, a good beginning of a shoe but it needs several changes.

Great quality for clipped in and hike a bike

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently purchased the Five Ten Trailcross Clip-In Mountain Bike Shoes, and I couldn't be more impressed with their performance. As someone with narrow feet, finding cycling shoes that provide a snug and comfortable fit has always been a challenge, but these shoes exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed was the impeccable fit for my narrow feet. The shoes offer excellent support and a secure grip, ensuring that my feet stay in place even during the most demanding rides. The closure system is easy to adjust, allowing for a customized fit that enhances overall comfort. One standout feature is the sturdy build of these shoes. They strike the perfect balance between durability and flexibility, making them ideal for those moments when you need to dismount and navigate challenging terrain on foot. The grip on the soles is exceptional, providing confidence-inspiring traction during hike-a-bike sections. What truly impressed me is that the quality of these shoes has not suffered since the company was acquired by Adidas. There might have been concerns about a potential dip in quality, but I can confidently say that these shoes maintain the high standards that Five Ten is known for. The build, materials, and overall craftsmanship speak to the brand's commitment to delivering top-notch products. Whether you're tackling technical trails or embarking on epic rides that involve both biking and hiking, the Five Ten Trailcross Clip-In Mountain Bike Shoes are a solid choice. They combine a tailored fit for narrow feet, a robust build for hike-a-bike scenarios, and the enduring quality that has become synonymous with the Five Ten name. I highly recommend these shoes to any mountain biking enthusiast looking for a reliable and versatile option.
