Why We Like The Five Ten Freerider Pro Mid VCS Cycling Shoe
When the forecast calls for a long day of mixed climbs and technical descents, we need a lightweight mountain bike-specific shoe that is still suited for aggressive riding. The Five Ten Freerider Pro Mid VCS Cycling Shoe is the same as the Five Ten Freerider Pro that we love, but now with added ankle protection and a mid-top design. An integrated Ortholite sock liner with added D3O ankle protection gives us extra ankle support and protection on the inside of our ankle, and a reinforced toe box keeps our toes protected when we are charging through rock gardens. A compression-molded EVA midsole absorbs energy from rough trails and hard landings, and the hook and loop straps make for a simple and secure closure. Five Ten's signature Stealth S1 Dotty rubber outsole provides a great grip on and off the bike, and a durable rubber compound stands up to the wear and tear of metal pedal pins.

Velcro is poor quality
Loved the fit and the concept. The Velcro doesn’t last at all, had to use zip ties to keep them tight. The soles outlived the shoe by a long shot

My favorite MTB shoe
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My favorite five ten shoe. The grip is fantastic and I appreciate the ankle protection. Fits true to size. Wish the protection was on both sides.

Good at keeping the dirt out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems like a good riding shoe. I figured I would give these a try. I wanted a shoe that would keep the dirt out of the shoe and it does.

Love how it fits, but doesn’t last very long.
The Velcro does not last. I had to retire these shoes because the Velcro failed before the soles of the shoes. Definitely a bummer.

10/10 would buy and reccomended.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the simplicity of getting them on and the three Velcro straps that keep them tight! Great MTB shoe choice for sure! Fight snug against angle and have protection built in.

Improved my MTB experience instantly
Grip is outstanding. Nice solid feeling base really helps you drive into the pedals and supports your foot massively on drops and tough terrain. The velcro allows you to apply extra pressure exactly where feels best for you, and the sock closure helps the shoe sit closer to the ankle so its snug; no heel slip at all. Solid, robust upper constructed of premium materials/techniques, yet no heavier than your average trainer/sneaker. Absolute beast of a shoe! I honestly wouldn’t want to ride anything else. Hoping the velcro holds up long term, it seems like its high enough quality to.

Ankle Chainsaws
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shoe works as well as the traditional Freerider Pro's (i.e. Stealth rubber) and will keep sand out of your shoe with the built-in sock. The total failure comes from the fact that the tongue cut into my ankles when going through the full motion of pedaling. The tongue edge is a thin and stiff-ish material that does not give when you pedal.
