What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I started a ride cold enough to need the inner gilet, then unzipped the front vents an hour later once I was pushing hard on a climb. The wrist vents actually made a noticeable difference in cooling me down, which I wasn't expecting from something that small."
Three season jackets face a harder engineering problem than single condition pieces, since the same garment needs to work across a wider temperature swing without a rider stopping to change layers. Endura's solution here separates the insulation from the shell entirely. The outer layer is a high stretch, waterproof membrane fabric with a DWR finish, providing weather protection and freedom of movement on its own. A removable inner gilet made from PrimaLoft Evolve adds insulation only when conditions call for it, and because Evolve doesn't need to be sandwiched between fabric layers the way standard PrimaLoft fill does, it retains wicking and drying performance that a bonded insulation layer would lose.
The ventilation system does the rest of the thermal regulation work once the gilet comes off or the effort ramps up. Long, two way zipped vents run down the front, positioned to draw air in even at low speeds or while a rider is hunched into the drops, a detail that matters since low speed airflow is where most vents underperform. A rear exhaust vent complements this by giving that intake air somewhere to go, driving it around the body rather than letting it stall. Wrist vents add a third, smaller intervention point, targeting an area of the body with a disproportionate effect on perceived core temperature. Combined, the system lets a single jacket span autumn cold starts, winter rides that never really warm up, and spring days that swing 20 degrees between the first mile and the last.
