Description

We all want candy.

Crank Brothers Egg Beater pedals are renowned for their mud-shedding power, easy four-sided entry design, and minimalist platform-free construction. For those of us that don't mind a few extra grams and want a bit of platform for added support and security, the Crank Brothers Candy 7 Pedals provide Egg Beater functionality with a platform boasting the new traction pad technology for a boost of supportive confidence wherever the ride takes you.

Appropriate for both mountain and cyclocross applications, the Candy 7 features an open design that sheds mud better than almost any other pedal system for confident cleat engagement in the muckiest conditions. The cleat system allows riders to adjust float and release angle to best meet their needs, and ribbing on the body provides extra traction when not clipped in. Crank Brothers adds in its new traction pad technology, which consists of two rubber pads placed on the pedal body that increase grip and promote effective cleat engagement. The Candy 7s come with one millimeter and two millimeter interchangeable pads, allowing riders to customize the system to best match with their favorite off-road shoes.

  • Customizable clipless for CX to enduro riding
  • 4-sided entry makes it easy to clip in at any angle
  • Open design sheds mud for confident cleat engagement
  • Ribbed platform for traction when not clipped in
  • Upgraded with a more durable 17-4PH stainless steel wing
  • 6061-T6 aluminum body withstands occasional rock strikes
  • Customizable release angles of 15 or 20 degrees
  • Includes Crank Brothers Premium Brass Cleates

    Pretty Nice if they last

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I had my third failure in the last 10 years on the Candy 3s and 7s All pedals were less than two years old And the last one was only four months old with only 950 miles of dirt road riding. Pedal came off the spindle and I would’ve been stranded if I didn’t have a friend nearby that I could take a panel off his bike and put on mine. For what you pay I shouldn’t have that many failures the problem is switching my whole fleet over to Shimano is going to be a pain And very expensive. Crank brothers sent me a return authorization but I have to wait to ship it back to California before I can get a new pedal. So I’ll be out of a pedal for at least two weeks.

I just switched my 4 bikes from crank bros (candy and eggs beaters) to Shimano. I’ve ridden crank bros for 5 years and so much happier with my new Shimano pedals. Worth the investment!

Use these on my CX bike

I've put it through the wringer

Gotta say I have been really happy with how easy entry/exit is on these pedals. I never have to focus on entry/exit during races and having that confidence is a real difference maker for me. Spend the extra cash for the 7's - they are worth it. I will add that I bought the metal strike plates from Crank Brothers that mount in between the cleat and the sole of your shoe. I didn't want my shoes to be trashed in short order.

    No good for rocky terrain

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've had these for 2 years and close to 2000 miles of riding, so I feel like I can give them a fair review. In muddy or wet conditions they do quite well. Easy enough to get in and out of. In rocky terrain, they are frustrating. Almost any pedal strike will eject you from the pedal. Since the spring loaded clips are conjoined top and bottom on the pedal, if you hit the bottom, it opens up the clip on the top and out comes your foot. Not the end of the world, but a frustrating add-on to a pedal strike. I probably need to order a refresh kit for them as well. At this point the right pedal has some wobble and clunk. Although it's been that way for a while, so the durability of these is not what I'd hoped for given the price and reputation. All in all, I'm a bit disappointed with the pedals. Good not great. Would not buy again given the mixed terrain I ride in.

    Great bang for buck

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Light, durable, easy to use. Also easy to service. Can't ask for much more! Came from Shimano XT pedals and much prefer these now.
