Carbon Áspero Apex XPLR Gravel Bike delivers versatile gravel performance with Trail Mixer handling
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
“I like this build for riders who want Cervélo’s gravel race geometry but prefer the simplicity of mechanical shifting. Apex XPLR offers dependable performance and wide gearing, while the Trail Mixer fork keeps geometry consistent across wheel sizes. It’s a great platform for riders who want speed on gravel roads but the option to run larger tires when the terrain gets rough.”
The Cervélo Áspero Apex XPLR Gravel Bike blends gravel race performance with the versatility needed for real-world adventure riding. Cervélo designed the Áspero platform to feel quick and responsive on smooth gravel while still maintaining the stability and tire clearance necessary for rougher terrain. A lightweight carbon frame with dropped seat stays improves ride compliance and efficiency, while internal cable routing keeps the frame clean and protected from the elements.
Up front, the Trail Mixer fork is engineered to maintain consistent steering geometry when switching between 700c and 650b wheels. This design allows riders to adjust tire volume and traction without dramatically altering the bike’s handling characteristics. Clearance for up to 700×45mm or 650b×47mm tires opens the door to everything from fast gravel race setups to higher-volume tires for rougher backcountry roads.
The build centers around a SRAM Apex XPLR 1×12 drivetrain featuring a 40-tooth chainring paired with an 11–44T cassette, delivering a wide gear range suited for steep gravel climbs and fast open roads. Hydraulic SRAM disc brakes provide confident stopping power in all weather conditions. Tubeless-ready Alexrims GX7 wheels paired with WTB Vulpine tires balance rolling efficiency with dependable traction, while the integrated Smartpak top-tube storage system keeps ride essentials close at hand. The result is a gravel platform built for speed, adaptability, and long days exploring beyond the pavement.
