Polartec AirCore fabric sits at the center of this jacket's engineering, an electrospun, semi-permeable membrane built to Castelli's spec at 219 grams, light enough to breathe under sustained effort while still qualifying as windproof front and back. That wind block matters most on fast descents, where wind chill spikes well past the ambient temperature, and the tailored cut keeps the fabric close enough to the body that airflow can't work its way underneath and strip heat prematurely. Rain management runs through the covered YKK Vislon zipper, which opens independently from the top or bottom for on-the-fly venting without exposing the zipper track to water, and continues through the three rear pockets, each fitted with drain holes so accumulated rain exits rather than pools. The reinforced, chameleon-taped shoulder seams and the extended drop tail with its reflective stripe round out the jacket's approach to wet-weather riding, covering the two zones, shoulders and lower back, where most shells fail first.
