Description

Espresso Jersey

Castelli first dubbed a winter jacket Espresso a few years back because what sounds more Italian than that? Joking aside, the brand realized that those little cups of coffee are in fact works of art requiring precision in every regard from the grounds, to the water temp, to the pressure, all of the painstaking attention to the details yields a beautiful product. That same ideology goes into the Espresso Jersey with its materials, craftsmanship, and fit. It's built with super simple and clean looks on the outside and typical Castelli craftsmanship using its new Punto fabric with exceptional softness, stretch, wicking, and breathability.

As a subtle deviation from the norm, a front zippered chest pocket offers easy access to your ID or credit card. Pocket design didn't end there though, and Castelli created a new rear pocket construction that lays flat but can bellow out for carrying larger items when needed.

  • Castelli road jersey worthy of an artisanal name
  • Punto fabric offers excellent wicking and stretch
  • Zippered chest pocket keeps essentials close at hand
  • 3 rear pockets with expandable bellow construction provide maximum capacity
  • Designed to complement the Premio bibshort

I ordered an XL, fits perfectly. I did 100+ miles on hot days in this jersey and feels great. The side pocket is a very useful storage. I recommend this jersey.

Too snug and short for my build.

I'm 6ft with a 42in chest and carrying a little extra in the middle. The size XL technically fit, but was snug around the waist and chest, such that my navel and nipples were clearly defined. Jersey was also a little too short in the rear when riding in the drops position if I'm wearing shorts (not bibs) for my liking. Also, the main zipper right around the bottom of the chest pocket creates a constant pointy shape when I'm standing or riding and it just didn't look flattering to me. Unfortunately for me, this size and design was created for someone with more defined abs and a lot less body fat.

Wanted to update that in the two months since I left my initial review that I've lost enough weight for so that this jersey fits me perfectly around the chest and waist now. Hooray for cycling.

    Nice Fit for Bigger Builds

For those of us with body fat percentages above 6% and who have beefier shoulders than your typical pro cyclist, it can be hard to find clean-fitting jerseys. This one provides a better balance than most Italian kit between shoulders and torso... meaning, a little more room in the chest and shoulders, without material bunching up in the torso when in the riding position. TruER to size, but like most European kit, runs on the small-ish side. My experience: if you know your Rosso Corsa size, size down by one from there and you'll likely be good. Still in the 40's here, so can't yet evaluate technical performance outdoors. But appears as if it will live up to the billing.

A great jersey, super design, but unlike the Rosso Corsa kit, this one runs more true to size. Sent the XL back. Since I ordered a Rosso Corsa Perfetto long sleve, I'm just going to use my budget for that for now, but plan to buy this Espresso Jersey later - in a large.
