Core Mesh 3 Sleeveless Baselayer
Castelli believes so much in the power of the fabric it uses to craft the Core Mesh 3 Sleeveless Baselayer that it deviated from its usual performance-related fabric monikers and named it Magic Mesh. Before you get skeptical about the fabric's otherworldly name, consider that the brand omitted all traces of less breathable Lycra when constructing the mesh, using only the most breathable polyester fibers to ensure maximum moisture management. By putting this featherweight layer under your summer jersey, you'll actually help speed up the rate at which moisture is pulled away from your skin to evaporate, helping you stay cooler and drier as you push through hot, humid air.
- Wear more to stay cooler with this ultralight baselayer
- Next-to-skin fit ensures constant moisture transfer
- Airy mesh fabric made only with highly breathable polyester
- Nearly seamless construction limits likelihood of chafing

Open mesh; runs VERY small
- Fit:
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- S/M
- Height

- Weight

I bought this and the Craft Mesh Superlight to compare. Two things: (1) This is open mesh, like a net, unlike the Craft and other "mesh" base layers I have. I bought this, in part, for indoor riding on the trainer, and, while it's light, not sure it'll stop the sweat from pouring off, due to the holes. (2) As others have written, it runs even smaller than other Castelli gear. I have around a 37" chest, and the S/M is tight. Castelli's race jersey in S is snug on me, so I usually wear a M, but this S/M is even tighter than the S race jersey. In comparison, the Craft in S fits me quite well. To be clear, I have not tried it out yet, so these are just initial impressions out of the box.

A must for long, hot days in the saddle!

It's been a long, hot summer in Austin, TX with temps in the 90s and humidity at 80%+. This base layer has made a HUGE difference! It seems to keep the jersey off my skin just enough so that the sweat can evaporate and cool me off. If I have to start in the heat, I get it damp with cold water and it really helps. Worn this for about 1500 miles this summer and recommend for anyone riding in the heat. Sizing runs small as I usually wear a Med in other brands, L/XL in this base layer.

I really enjoy this base layer when I know it will be a hot day in the saddle. Fit is very snug as other reviewers have commented. I also agree the torso is a tad long.

Excellent hot weather base
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- Runs small
The open mesh design really works - it allows maximum moisture wicking without trapping any heat. I wear this on every hot ride. It hang-dries dries in 20 minutes after washing. The fit is...weird. It fits small, even for Castelli, so the traditional rule of sizing up one might not be enough for you. Even going up a size more than I would usually, it is a little hard to get on and off. Once I have it on, it fits snuggly but comfortably. I don't really notice it while riding. It's a little long for my taste.

Core mesh baselayer
- Fit:
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- large / XL
- Height
- 5` 10"
- Weight

The fit is tight, which I prefer. I didn't notice that it kept me cool - I wore it on a rainy day and the temp was about 80. My only problem with it is that the shoulder stitching is very thick and I could feel it digging into my skin under my form-fitting jersey for the first 20 miles.

Upsize
- Fit:
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- XXL
Thanks for the advice on getting a larger size. I have never owned a XXL in anything but even this is a very tight fit, I am normally a L and will even go XL on race fit. I haven’t had a chance to try in the heat but I’m not looking forward to pealing this wet base layer off. Definitely listen to advice and get one or two sizes larger!

Awesome. But runs very small.

In my opinion, this fish-net vest is one of the best hot weather BLs made. But it runs very small. This innovative garment is designed to keep you cool in warm/hot weather by holding your jersey off your skin; allowing cool air to reach your skin, and sweat to evaporate more easily. It works! Wear this under your favorite Summer jersey and you *will* run cooler. It's pretty amazing. *Another note: the cut out around the neck is much improved over the previous version (previously it was way too small). Sizing. As Castelli vets know, usually size up +1 from your normal street size. Italian sizing is different. Here size up +2. Anyone else have the same experience here size wise?

I agree. I order an L/XL model and it runs extremely small. I'm 5'7'' and I would've never thought of ordering an XXL.
