Air Tower 4 Pump

There is no shortage of good floor pumps out there; most are pretty hard to differentiate from one another. Blackburn's AirTower 4 looks like most of them. Looks can be deceiving, though: The pumping performance of the AirTower 4 is a cut above.

Start with the bottom. Check out that base. Stable. Cast Aluminum. It is 240mm x 120mm. The pump stands 67cm tall, giving you a 45.5cm pump stroke through a 39.2mm barrel. You grab on to a 242mm wide, contoured, rubber-covered, ergonomic handle. The handle has storage drawers inside. Great places to stow that pin for inflating rubber balls, a valve extender for pumping up tires on deep-dish wheels, and the "crack pipe" that allows you to pump up your disc.

The pump head is at the end of a 92.5cm hose. The head itself can handle both Schrader and Presta valves and has a locking lever to make sure no air escapes. The head itself can be rebuilt; Blackburn has the spare parts. The gauge is at the top of the pump rather than the bottom for easy eyeballing. Max pressure is 160psi. There is a lifetime warranty on the pump. The color is Silver with Blackburn design logos. The claimed weight of Blackburn AirTower 4 pump is 1797g.
