BellSixer MIPS Helmet
Item # BEL00F7
Sixer MIPS Helmet
The Bell Sixer MIPS Helmet is stacked with just about every feature the aggressive trail rider or enduro racer could wish for, from its MIPS technology to strap grippers that keep your goggles firmly in place. As the premier helmet in Bell's line for trail and enduro, the Sixer MIPS is especially lightweight and well ventilated, thanks to In-Mold construction reducing its overall bulk and allowing massive vents to rapidly disperse heat. To ensure a secure fit, you'll enjoy the twist-to-tighten convenience of Bell's Float Fit system located along the backside.
MIPS technology gives you peace of mind by dissipating forces that happen when you hit an object at an oblique angle, which is bound to happen when you grab too much front brake or perilously fly over the bars on a technical section. Another beneficial feature, the 4-position visor keeps overhanging branches from poking your eyes and harsh sunlight from washing out vision. Moreover, it's boasting a breakaway action-camera mount for capturing all the action on the trail.

- 4-position adjustable visor blocks branches and harsh sun

My head is right on the line (21.75”) between S and M. Is medium the right size to get?

OK, so what we have here is pretty much the best thing to happen to helmets since pretty much forever. Let me explain The sweat channel system that Bell has incorporated is genius. It works and works well. The only time it doesn't perform exceptionally is when I haven't washed the liner in a while and the nasty build up in the pads prevents the sweat from flowing down the sweat channel. I have more of a Giro Shaped head. For mountain helmets, I have owned the Specialized Ambush, Giro Xen, POC Tectal, and Smith Forefront. The sixer is easily the least ideal for my head shape. Not uncomfortable, just not as perfect as the POC, Giro, Smith and Specialized helmets. BUT, the retention system is really good at making up for the rounder shape and I reach for my Bell Sixer over my Tectal, Ambush, and Forefront. The sweat channel is fantastic at keeping sweat out of my eyes and off of my glasses and I love the MIPS technology and progressive layering foam that gives me peace of mind in case of a crash. One thing I love that I didn't realize I would, is the breakaway GoPro mount. It is a super easy quick-release mount. I have never used it for a GoPro, but I use it during fall night rides for my Light & Motion Urban light that mounts to a GoPro mount. Super easy to take the light on and off and I love it.

Light, cool, comfortable, with MIPS

First off, for sizing, my head measurement is 57.5 cm around the crown, and the M fits well. I also have a Bell Super DH, size M, and my Super 3R is a L size. All three helmets fit me well; note the different sizes that fit best in the different models. Interestingly they all feel a little different when the adjustable halo is tightened up. The Sixer halo fits snug and low across the forehead, the 3R more along the base of the back of the skull, and the DH more evenly around the skull. I find the strap adjustments and clasp comfortable, easy to keep straight, and easy to snap closed and back open with gloves on. The combination of Bell's implementation of MIPs, the low forehead and the low drop at the back of the skull, the snug and comfortable fit when wearing the helmet properly (not tipped backwards), and the industry standard ratings, gives me high confidence in the level of protection the helmet affords. It has great air flow, light weight, and overall comfort to go with the long list of features (described in the product description).

This helmet has a very nice look to it. sleek and aerodynamic. The strap adjustment was very easy, and the helmet adjustment works with fine precision. The white and black design of the helmet gets quite a bit of positive feedback from fellow riders. It is also lightweight and cool. I have taken several 40-60 miles rides with it and have no complaints.

Great Fit, Feels Nice!

Really love the fit, the MIPS headgear is easy to tighten or loosen and hugs your head very nice. My wife loved the fit so well we ordered another one for her. Excellent back of head coverage, we both always hated traditional shaped bike helmets, these cover further down the back of your head giving more protection. Only downside so far: Out of two helmets we ordered, only one came with the camera mount.

Excellent trail helmet

This helmet is super comfortable. The padding is comfortable and the sweat catch is perfect for anyone who is tired of sweat dripping on their glasses while riding. This helmet is light, vents well, and has a good amount of adjustment. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great all-around helmet.

Love the Helmet, Love the MIPS

First of all, MIPS for the win. I love the helmet and was torn between the Sixer or a TLD helmet and was ultimately won over because of the experience and details explained on the Competitive Cyclist site and the experience I've had with Bell/Giro road helmets. https://www.competitivecyclist.com/sc/bell-boundary

Confidence to crash!

Have you ever had one of those helmets that was so uncomfortable that the thought of crashing in it was terrifying? Well.....this helmet is the opposite of that!! Super comfy, well ventilated, and pretty darn light for what it is! I don't intend on crashing in this helmet but I have confidence to do so should the occasion arise. So here's to always riding fast and take chances! This is certainly the helmet for the occasion!

For what shape head is this helmet designed? I have an older Bell Super 2 MIPS helmet that fits me well (oval head shape), but I tried a Bell Catalyst that fit me poorly because it seems to be designed for around head.

another helmet home run from Bell/Giro

Style, fit, breathability, value all great on another quality offering. I ride enough and bash enough helmets I'm buying a new one at least yearly. Having tried most of the major brands, I keep waffling back and forth between the Bell and Giro helmets. If you liked the Bell Super hemelts you'll like this. If you like the Giro Montaro, you'll like this. Fit is better for me than Fox and breathability is better than Smith (and I dig the style of both of those helmets). There are a lot of great helmets out there. Bell Sixer is one of them IMO.

We have a winner!

I have always been a big fan of bell/giro helmets. This one just upped my support level even more. First off, the fit is excellent. I have always been picky as far as helmet shape, especially with MIPS, and this one fits like a glove (Helmet??)Bell took it even further with their new full float helmet system, that works similar to MIPS with the helmet motion, but the full float gives it even better movement, all while fitting extremely well, and secure. The ventilation is excellent in this helmet also, with plenty of inlet vents, and large exhaust vents out to back to keep that air moving. The multi position visor is great, and can accommodate goggles for climbing and keeping the fog down. A new cool feature they have done is with the padding. At the front of the helmet, the padding has a small extended piece in the center of the forehead. This is designed as a point for sweat to flow to, and if it drips, it drips away from your face, rather than all over your face and eyes. I was skeptical about it at first, but it works surprisingly great. Two thumbs up from Bell. If you need a new helmet, this is definitely a top contender in my book. Gidday Forrest, when you say your head isn't suited to the Sixer MIPS Helmet what do you mean exactly, my reason for asking is that I have an oval shaped noggin rather than round or as others put it a easter egg shaped head. Was planning on getting this helmet for the exact reasons you have given but was worried about the comfort factor. Thanks
