AssosActive Wear Cleanser
Item # AAS001J
Like carnauba wax for your high-end clothing.
We know that all who've landed here are true equipe campionissimo and manga.Yio. Or, in non-Assos Speak, Assos fanatics. You've invested in Assos clothing not because of the cost, but because of its unparalleled technical sophistication. And along these lines, you understand that your Assos wardrobe deserves better than your day-to-day apparel. Now, don't get us wrong, Assos apparel isn't delicate stuff, but it does indeed benefit from special care. For this reason, Assos created its Active Wear Cleanser for laundry day. Essentially, it's an antibacterial treatment that's formulated to clean your clothing, to keep the color vibrant, to maintain the elasticity of the fabric, and to maintain the softness of the fabric. And of course, in true Assos fashion, it's PH-neutral and skin-friendly.
Yes, there's an Assos product for every occasion — even for doing the laundry.
The Assos Active Wear Cleanser is available in 300ml jar. Please consult with your official Assos care instructions prior to washing.
- Antibacterial treatment
- Maintains elasticity and softness

I've used the Assos wash for years and will continue to do so. It keeps my kit looking good and smelling clean. Seems to get rid of dirt pretty much as well as a normal detergent, but also seems gentle on stretchy cycling and other workout clothing. Seems to prevent, or at least minimize, the buildup of odor that synthetic fabrics can develop over time when used for working out. Due to its cost, I only use it on my cycling and higher-end workout clothes (think my Assos/Giordana/Castelli gear and my wife's Lululemon, etc.). I don't have particularly sensitive skin, but my wife does, and she has no issues wearing clothes after being washed with the Assos detergent. Pricey, but worth it, in my book.

There are many good options for clean technical and delicate clothing. I will admit that the Assos stuff is expensive. However, I prefer it. I purchase it in the larger bottle to get the best value. It’s got the perfect amount of strength to clean and sanitize your garments every time you ride without getting that oversaturated with detergent feeling that hinder fabric performance. It’s does not require very much to quickly clean your typical sweat and dirt. Where I think the Assos detergent requires a little more is in treating spots and stains. It may take a couple direct application on spots to get stubborn spots out. Other “gentle” detergents deal with spots quicker. But, I know they are not as gentle in preserving the clothing. I’m okay with that because most of time what you want for your premium garments is a gentle antibacterial wash to clear out the sweat, salt, and dirt so they don’t infect and eat away at the fabric. This detergent does that very well and the scent is very pleasant and stays in the clothing for a long, long time. I love it.

I had a hard finding out how much of this to use with each load. After reaching out to Assos, I learned that the formula is 1 cap per 1.5 gallons of water. I have used the wash by-hand, in the sink as well as in the washing machine. With the machine, I put my bibs in a lingerie bag, gentle setting, cold water. I use 2.5 caps on the small-load setting.

It works!
I have a nice new washer with a specific setting for 'sportswear.' This detergent works just fine with the washer. My shorts, jerseys, base-layers, etc. come out nice and clean. Time will tell if the life of my expensive cycling wear is being extended by using this. So far-so good.

I wonder if Assos is making fun of us

I've yet to find an Assos product that is as good as, much less superior to, less pretentious options. This is laundry soap. It hasn't worked any miracles in getting the funk out of my cycling clothing. And, it seems to make stuff itchy. I've never had a problem with itchy cycling clothes and was shocked at how uncomfortable I was after the first wash with this stuff. An extra rinse cycle mitigated this a bit but isn't necessary with other products. Sometimes I think Assos just brands stuff so they can make fun of the people who buy it.

How much is needed for a load of apparel?

2-3 caps is enough for most loads. Assos recommends skipping the pre-wash when using this wash.

Love the stuff! Definitely helps preserve the look and feel of sports clothing. I have used it for years. It is a bit pricey though; some what in line with all Assos equipment.

The Best

Assos Active Wear Cleanser is without a doubt the best laundry product for your cycling kit. I've used it for quite a while now, and it cleans beautifully and leaves a nice, clean scent. It is not a harsh cleaner like typical laundry soaps, but a very gentle product that will help preserve those expensive bibs and jerseys.

I invested in a pair of Assos bib shorts this year for cycling. When you make that sort of investment its crucial to take proper care of the bibs and follow the washing instructions accordingly. Rather than chance it with other cleaning products I used the sample bottle that was contained in the package. The cleaner does the trick and cleans the bibs leaving them fresh, but doesn't appear to damage the fabric whatsoever. Worth it if you want to get the longest life out of your new bibs/shorts

Is this cleaner HE washing machine compatible?

The bottle doesn't say anything about being (or not) HE compatible. I looked on the Assos site to try to find more info...but no. I did find a phone for Assos in Switzerland: Tel+ 41 (0) 91 641 62 62. Also, a on-line Assos' customer care address: customerservice@assos.com. Hopefully they can give a definitive answer (unless someone else knows for sure).

As it turns out, I did receive an answer after emailing Assos a few weeks ago. The rep stated that their product is HE compatible. I have tested it several times and it's turned out wonderfully. Just a little goes a long way. I use a little less than the recommended amount and my clothes are just as fresh.

Hey Joe! I'm terribly sorry that it smells like bubblegum..? That's an interesting scent for a detergent to say the least. Thanks for sharing for our community though!
