Vector 3S Power Meter Pedals

The Garmin Vector 3S Power Meter Pedals bring some new features to the table and provide powerful data tracking in an affordable, easy to install, and bike interchangeable format. On this newest version, Garmin eliminates the pedal pods used on previous Vector pedals creating the most streamlined and low profile pedal yet from the brand that brings improved cornering clearance. The Vector 3S pedal looks and installs just like any other pedal but offers power analysis that will take your training to the next level.

The Vector 3S measures cadence and watts to an accuracy of +/- 1% at the pedals, capturing power information as it transfers from the pedals into the crank arm. The sensor monitors tiny changes in the pedal spindle curve as force is applied to the pedal, and the data is transferred wirelessly via ANT+ or Bluetooth technology to the head unit or your phone. You can see your power during rides and also download the data for analysis once you get home. The Vector 3S also has the option to upgrade and convert to a dual-sensing system. With the Garmin Vector 3S Upgrade Pedal, additional data features such as left/right balance and pedal efficiency dynamics are available.

The pedal itself has a lightweight composite body with a stainless steel wear plate to increase durability and provide a wide platform, reducing the chances of pressure points distracting from your ride. The adjustable tension binding also lets you customize the force required to twist the cleat out of the pedal and is compatible with Garmin Vector and Look Keo three-bolt cleats.

The whole system runs on standard LR44/SR44 batteries located in the pedal for a claimed 120 hours of ride time. When time's up, the batteries are easily replaceable with a quick trip to the grocery store and a twist of the battery cap.

The Garmin Vector 3S Power Meter Pedals are easy to install and can transfer between bikes, making it great when traveling or demoing bikes. A set of Garmin Vector cleats with six degrees of float are also included. Please note that Garmin's suggested rider weight limit for this pedal system is 231 lbs.

I’ve used PowerTap hubs for years, but when I upgraded to disc brakes I had to start over and these did the trick. These are a heck of a lot easier to swap from bike to bike then a crank arm or something bolted onto the cranks which gives me power across a bunch of different bikes regardless of what wheels I’m using. I did the DC Rainmaker test of riding with two different power meters at the same time and there was little to no deviation in data between the two. There’s an option to upgrade to dual sided power if needed which is nice as well. I’ve ridden Look blades (Keo) for years so they lined up nicely with everything else. The platform feels a little less flat/connected than the Look blades, but after I ratcheted down the torque value on the springs, I feel fairly well locked in while leaning into a corner. I’m unsure if I would use these for a crit, but I usually swap to speedplays anyway and am definitely not using a nice bike in a crit anytime soon based on how squirrelly we’ve become riding alone/indoors.

Terrible performance

Never worked very well. Had big spikes in the data. Finally the flat portion of the pedal became loose. After that it never worked again. A total loss. I really don't recommend this product.

Great Product!

This is my first power meter and I have to say I am impressed so far. They were very easy to install and connected right away. I had to replace the batteries after about 3 rides but I am assuming that is because they sat in the warehouse for some time prior to purchasing. As long as this second set of batteries last I will be a huge fan of this power meter. Highly recommend !

Works great; watch the pedal torque spec

Bought the Garmin Vector 3S from CC and started using them late last year. Put about 2,500 miles on them so far. Love them but had to change the batteries pretty much right away. I have learned that the thing to watch out for is the correct pedal torque spec and using good batteries when setting up the pedals. After I starting using them, they worked until the batteries went low after about 300 miles. Replaced the batteries and initially the pedals did not pair and read right; spikes and inconsistent numbers. Took them off the bike and re-installed them again with the recommended torque, and no more problems. They are paired with an older Garmin 500.

How do these hold up against pedal strikes that can happen like in crits?

I've struck mine in a crit! The cap and batteries popped off, but once I found the cap (after about an hour of searching, lol), I put it back on and it worked great.
