A place for everything.

When the ride is over and it's time to get back, cramming your wet, muddy bike in the back of your car can be a real hassle. That's why Yakima built the SprocketRocket Bike Carrier for your roof rack. The SprocketRocket's sleek skewer installs easily—you don't need tools—and fits both fat and skinny tires as well as most frames with disc brakes. Remove your bike's front wheel and attach the fork to the skewer, then lock in your rear wheel. The optional lock cores allow you to lock your bike to the SprocketRocket while you step into the pub for a post-ride pint. Yakima also gave the SprocketRocket an automotive-quality finish so it would complement your ride.

  • Works with round or square crossbars
  • Aerodynamic fork block for stability and better fuel economy
  • Doesn't touch paint on frame tubing
  • Lock-compatible (lock cores sold separately)

Ok, product arrived used

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like the rack, obviously someone else did not. Unfortunately mine arrived used from BC. I probably would have sought to exchange it, but am in the process of moving, and need the rack now. As far as the mount goes, its great, and if you have other SKS locks you use, go direct to Yakima and get replacement locks & a hotkey (cheaper and you can order matched to your current keys). This rack works well on my round bars, but seems like it would work on just about any vehicle, or mount.

More than decent

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I haven't owned many roof top bike racks so I cannot offer comparison, but I can say that this one is fantastic. It is exceptionally solid with everything from my super light road bikes, to 29er mountain bikes, and even heavy beach cruisers.

It is easy to install, easy to get bikes on and off, and it doesn't look as sloppy as some of the other options out there. It is, however; rather expensive, so all this greatness will cost. Highly recommend picking one up if you come across it on sale.

Look pro!

I started with a Sprocket Rocket, left and came back. The Sprocket Rocket in my opinion is the best in most circumstances. It is very stable and does not rock side to side. Alot of the wheel on systems tend to rock. My wife liked it since she could lift the bike easier. My only draw back is that you need to find a place for the front wheel.
