Wolf Tooth Components Tanpan Inline 11-Speed Conversion $42.95
When it comes to gravel grinding and cyclocross racing, we can't stand the feeling of being limited to road drivetrains. Often the hurdling and punchy off-road climbs we tackle are just too much for the small cassettes, leaving us pushing a bike when we wish we were pedaling, or we simply want the increased durability of a mountain-specific derailleur cage. Fortunately the Wolf Tooth Components Tanpan Inline 11-Speed Conversion is there for us, so we can run whatever drivetrain components our hearts desire, without feeling the need to sacrifice our drop bars.
The Wolf Tooth Tanpan expands the versatility of your road shifters by amplifying the cable pull, which enables seamless communication between your road shifter and mountain derailleur. In turn, you'll find an ideal setup for converting your gravel, cyclocross, or road bike to a 1x setup, and expanding to a larger cassette to offer you lower gearing for climbing up loose fire roads, or just creating a more relaxed feel. The Inline Tanpan attaches near your shifter with a few simple steps, we recommend attaching the Tanpan near below the stem for easy on-bike access to the barrel adjuster, so you can fine tune your shifting while on the bike, though other placements can be suitable as well. To achieve the best shifting, its recommended that you use a new, 1.1mm cable with the Wolf Tooth Tanpan.
- A nifty Tanpan for running your road shifters with MTB drivetrain
- Adapts road shifter's cable pull to ideal MTB derailleur limits
- Works with all Shimano 1x11 mountain drivetrains
- Barrel adjuster allows for tinkering with shifts while riding
- Shifts best with a 1.1mm shift cable

It Works Better Than It Should
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I was surprised how well this works. I've got 5800 105 shifters with an M7000 SLX rear derailleur and SLX 11-40t cassette and it shifts just like it should. This adapter can be run as pictured at the rear derailleur, it also includes a ferrule so you can run it inline up by the bars. I've got it mounted at the derailleur for a bit cleaner look. Setup was fairly straightforward if you read the directions, just be sure to use a 1.1mm shift cable and take your time. One the cable is installed a couple turns of the barrel adjuster dials it in. Thanks Wolftooth for giving me a wide range 1x drivetrain without having to move to Sram!
