The revamped Truvativ Stylo OCT 1.1G crankset is quite possibly the best value in single-speed cranks we've encountered. The new hollow-forged Open Core Technology aluminum crankarms are an improvement in stiffness from last year's solid-forged units and the fully encased cross section means they are also lighter, too. Though they may not be as sexy as carbon fiber cranks, you also won't feel as bad when you case that rock ledge step-up and bash the end of one of these into a chunk of solid granite.
The hard-anodized 7075-T6 aluminum chainring comes in a versatile 32T size and is non-ramped for better performance on one-gear drivetrains.. A trick-looking black-anodized and machined aluminum outer guide is included, too, and both use a standard 104mm four-arm bolt circle diameter if you want to change things up.
The included GXP external-type bottom bracket uses Truvativ's proven floating design for smoother running and better longevity. The non-driveside sealed cartridge bearing is sandwiched between the crankarm and a shoulder on the bottom bracket spindle and the other bearing can freely slide around as it pleases, making for one of the only zero-preload systems on the market. Additional seals on the outside of both cups are also on hand to keep out the muck.
A complete Truvativ Stylo OCT 1.1G assembly weighs 820g. The GXP bottom bracket fits 68mm or 73mm English-threaded shells and is also compatible with BB-mounted chain guides. Crankarms are available in standard 175mm or chain-snapping 180mm lengths. Monster quads not included.
