When people say they're "all thumbs," it usually means they can't manipulate their fingers precisely. If a massage therapist tells you the same thing, get them to work on your body post haste; they must have some powerful digits. Trigger Point Performance Therapy's TP Massage Ball is a way to get strong thumbs to dig in to your sore muscles without having performed daily massages for years.

TP is short for Trigger Point. This massage ball is like a human thumb, with a soft exterior and hard core. Use it to work your trigger points. The core of the ball self-models easily enough, meaning body pressure will take it out of round, and thus it will offer broader, more customized pressure than a harder material would. You should use this ball to massage your body, either by using body weight and gravity or your hand. It can be as simple as placing it in the palm of your hand and using gentle pressure to roll it against your muscles.

The ball can be used on its own, paired with another ball, or added to their Starter Set or one of their Performance Kits. It's easy to use it to loosen any tight, sore spots just about anywhere on your body. The small size makes it easy to use in small spaces, like when you're stuck in a seat in a car or on a plane, and it's easy to travel with.

Use it before your dogs chews it

I love these trigger point balls. I use them for muscle releases of hard to reach knots in my quads/hip flexors and glute med. As a endurance athlete overuse injuries are just around the corner unless I take care of my body. That starts with proper biomechanics and foam rolling in addition to trigger point release keep me going without screwing up my stride. Just to be transparent, my dog ate part of the ball and now I need another!

    Not Bad!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have not explored the many uses of this massage ball. I have mainly used it to help reduce shin splint pain. It has been very helpful!

    Trigger Point TP Massage Ball

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Perfect for tight spots that need a bit of concentrated pressure

    Great little massage ball

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have this in the firm 2.5 version. I love it for working out knots & for doing some trigger point release on myself.

    Simple and To The Point

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A personal trainer I worked with recommended that I get this for the imbalance between my glutes and hip flexors cause lower back pain and tightness. I've been using it regularly and can attest it works! It's perfect for getting those knots in tight spots. Another perk, it will last forever as long as it's taken care of. I would recommend this product.

    Gets the job done

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is better than any other massage ball I've used. Great at helping you work on the painful knots anywhere on your body

    Better than the tennis ball

I frequently develop hard to release knots between my shoulder blades from paddling and biking. I've used a tennis ball with some success, but it did not get deep enough to fully alleviate the tightness. The MB X ball allows me to accurately penetrate through to the knot and it's texture makes it much easier to control than the slippery tennis ball. Money well spent.

      Does what it's supposed to.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought the 5" ball to try and relieve some sciatic pain. It's definitely helped. I don't expect it to be the solution to all of my problems, but it helps, so I'm happy.

      Does the job!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have an old shoulder injury that causes my neck, shoulder and back to remain tense all the time. I was using a tennis ball to help alleviate the knots in my back previously, but it wasn't really cutting it. With this Trigger Point ball, I am able to lay on it and relax while it works on the gnarly mess in my back. Great buy!

      Great recovery tool

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using my Trigger Point ball for well over a month. I have found it to be an exceptionally good tool for getting to the smaller areas of tension in my back. Foam rolling can only get to so many spots, this can get virtually all of them.
It's an uneven ball. it has areas of its surface that are more sharply raised. This helps you to get a very specific focal point of pressure on the tightness in the muscle. And it's a bit easier to use than a foam roller, though some muscle groups will require some creativity.
      Fantastic product!

      Very effective

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had a bout of plantar fasciitis a few years back and bought one of these to roll out my feet. It was recommended by my physical therapist. Flash forward to now and I still keep one under my desk at work and one at home. I roll my feet on them after I ride and they help keep my feet really nice and loose. With loose feet I've noticed less stiffness in my calves, upper legs and lower back as well. If you keep your feet happy, your whole body just stays in better form/alignment.

The ridge on this ball is the key. It works better than a lacrosse ball because the ridge can dig into very specific areas. I also use a tennis ball occasionally to warm up my feet for a go on the more intense TP ball. The soft nature of the tennis ball helps get the blood flowing in the foot and provides a gentle overall massage before the real work begins.

I know this ball appears relatively expensive, but it is worth the price.

      Skeptical at first

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I didn't think this would make much of a difference, but after all the glowing reviews I bought it. The reviews were right, this massage ball is amazing at working out knots

Where have you been my entire life...

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I suffer from chronic knots in my upper back and shoulders. The Trigger Point massage ball is the ideal solution for relief when I am on the road or when I want to target very specific knots and lengthen the knotted muscles. I recommend the 2" ball as you can concentrate more pressure (via bodyweight) over a smaller surface area. I also find the massage balls to be useful rolling out the bottoms of my feet after a ride or a run. Rolling out my feet helps to relax my ankle muscles and achilles. Buy one to throw in your travel bag. You won't regret it

      Ugh. Heavenly.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing will annihilate nasty knots in your back, neck, and shoulders. I think the 2.5in size is the most nimble and versatile, but the 5in size is great for less acute pressure. The TP massage ball and Manduka Foam Roller are my go-to recovery tools.

Wish I found this sooner - Awesome!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It's like having a portable deep tissue masseuse. Great for working neck, shoulders, and back. I don't get cramps/pains in legs normally, but seems like it would work great for that too. Great quality, not much wasted packaging, and for the cost, the 2.5" massage ball is great. I don't think I'd get much more out of a 5", this one's perfect.

      Love it!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love this item! Great for loosening knots out of your neck, shoulders and back, almost feels like a deep tissue massage depending on how much pressure you apply. Also great for feet while watching TV!

      Massage Tool

Excellent massage tool for those nasty knots that need direct pressure, or the hard to reach nooks and crannies that need some tough love.

        Great for those kinks!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We love this product! This product is an easy way to work through some of those kinks after working out, or sitting at a desk all day. I would highly recommend this product.
