How to Measure:
-Have a friend locate the bony bump at the base of your neck, where the slope of your shoulder meets your neck. This is your 7th cervical vertebra (C7). Tilt your head forward to locate it more easily. This is the top of your torso length.
-Place your hands on top of your hips bones, with fingers point forward, thumbs in back. This it eh "shelf" on which your pack will rest. The middle of an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs is the bottom of your torso length.
-Using the tape measure, your friend should measure the distance between the C7 and the imaginary line between your thumbs. Be sure you stand up straight when being measured. You know should have your torso length.
Measure around your waist just above your hips.

Perfect, small, carry-all bag!

I've used it several times

This bag looked a bit small when I got it, but I was super impressed with all that I could fit in there. This has been great for hiking and my winter show shoeing adventures. I was able to fit a good amount of gear in there as well as some smaller winter layering items. The water resevoir was great and I was able to fit lots of snacks. I was hesitant about that front mesh-like pocket, but it has help up so well! I was able to fit an entire extra light-weight jacket there when I got too warm to wear it. Over-all this is such a great and practical all around bag for all of my needs. Will keep me fairly cool when hiking or biking in the summer, and great for all seasons.

Hello, Will this 14L pack hold a 18 or 20oz hydroflask or similar type insulated water bottle in the sides? Thanks. Male (L/XL)

Fantastic little pack

I've used it several times

So here are the things I love: 1) The zippered hip pockets are convenient as heck 2) The included hydration pack carries plenty of water and it's easy to clean, refill, and drink out of on a bike or on a hike 3) Great padding for the shoulders, back, and the straps help with weight distribution to make the pack feel weightless Things I don't love: Nothing Great small pack for the trail!

The Perfect Day Pack

I've used it several times

Just enough space for lots of water and everything else I need for any day hike! The pockets are easy to access, I love that it comes with the hydration reservoir included, and it's light! I love that the waist belt isn't too bulky and still serves it's purpose, my phone fitting in that pocket is also a huge plus. It's a simple pack and exactly what I was hoping for.

Great Trail Pack

I've put it through the wringer

I've had the fortune of demo'ing the Patagonia Nine Trails pack a number of times. I'm so satisfied with it that I've decided to pick one up for myself. I've used it for long mountain bike rides in the desert and mountains, and have used it for short to long hikes with my family. I've found the accessible stash pockets super useful for quick grab items, the main pocket is very useful and allows for you to stash snacks, beers, and gear in addition to your bladder. It's really lightweight and overall has everything I'd want in a smaller pack - hence buying one!

Could somebody provide sizing recommendations? I'm 5'8" and feel like S/M would fit but would like to be sure before I buy.

Pedro, I would recommend going with the S/M. If it doesn't fit, please reference our 100% Returns Guarantee here: https://www.backcountry.com/sc/returnguarantee

Great so far

I've put it through the wringer

I got the Patagonia Nine Trails 14L mountain bike hydration pack about 10 days ago and have roughly 80 miles with it so far. I am really happy with the way the L/XL fits my 6'2" frame, and stays secure on the trail. The zippered pockets on each hip are key for me - phone in the left and Gels/Bites in the right. The stash pockets just behind them are great for stuffing a lightweight windbreaker or vest. The hydration bladder is good so far and the internal pocketing is solid. I like the simplistic nature of this pack, as it has everything you need, but nothing you don't, so it's relatively light compared to other bags this size. Highly recommended.
