Why We Like The Rekon 3C/EXO/TR Tire
The Maxxis Rekon emulates the fast-rolling speed of the XC-inspired Ikon, but it's a little more beefed up with wider knobs down the middle for additional control under heavy braking, and L-shaped side knobs to keep us stable while cornering at high speeds. This particular Rekon features the 3C Maxx Terra compound, which uses a softer shoulder for exceptional grip while cornering, complete with a medium compound down the center to retain its fast-rolling capabilities. Underneath both compounds is a harder rubber that resists breakdown as you wear through the tire over time.

Fast roller for dry conditions

I've been using this tire on 27.5+ for years and it's been great for everything. I recently switched my wheel to 29" and bought this tire in the 2.4" size as that's all that will fit. Unfortunately the tread isn't as big/chunky as the plus size tires so while it's still a fast rear tire it doesn't grip as well in wet conditions. It's more likely to slide out in mud and wet roots so I'd consider something more aggressive for wet riding.

3 Trail Tire

Bought this tire in hopes of it lasting a moderate amount of time. Walls are too thin and the third ride side walls couldn’t handle a small rock and exploded on the sides.

Not a true 2.4

Doesn't measure as a 2.4 and has significantly less volume than the 2.6 Rekon (or even the 2.3 Aggressor or 2.4 Dissector.)

Awesome Arizona Tire

Works great in the dry and loose stuff here in Arizona, absolutely one of the best tires of i have ever ridden. Doesn't seem to have the dead zones my previous ardent and ardent race tires had, these give you plenty of warning when you're near the limit.

Great tire

Came stock on my Pivot Trail 429 . I'm used to riding an XC bike and rode Vittoria Mezcal/AKA/Saguaro for a long time...I'm getting used to a bigger, burlier bike/tire and slowly testing the limits of cornering...seems like these will do the trick. Super stable, great traction, runs well at about 18 psi.
