Description

Loyalty.

Maxxis set out to craft a tire that would loyally lead wherever you tell it to go — in most cases, down muddy, rocky, technical descents — and the result is the burly Minion DHF 3C/EXO/TR Tire. Constructed specifically for aggressive enduro riding, the Minion was made to blast through a range of trail conditions and terrain, and like its namesake, to loyally stick with you while you're sticking challenging lines.

The Minion's triple compound construction suits it to rugged, enduro rides. It relies on a firm, durable base layer topped by two progressively softer layers to keep the tires glued to the trail when conditions get slippery and loose. We like the way the softer layers pair with the mix of directionally ramped center knobs and tall, channel-cut knobs along the sides to keep rolling resistance low on fast straightaways but grab quickly in tight corners.

Between the dependable 60 TPI casing and the tubeless-ready construction, you can also count on the Minion to not bail if you hit an occasional rock or frequent rock gardens. With this mix of features, whether you're riding through mud, loose dirt, or any messy mix of conditions, we'd count on this tire to barrel through it all without hesitation.

Ride em hard!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have these tires on my Pivot Switchblade and wouldn't want anything else for the loose dry dirt here in Utah. I am super comfortable laying the bike over on any loose berm and trusting that the tire is going to keep me upright. Ride them as hard as you want...they'll hold up.

Good cross country tire.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These tires are great for up hill and downhill mountain biking trails.

Perfect

By far the best all around tire you can purchase. Time tested tread design and Maxxis quality. Still available in 26!

    bike is life

I have been running this as a rear tire on my Enduro for a few months. I love the tire and how it hooks up in the Texas dirt. Grabbed another to run up front after having my 3rd Conti fail. Excited to run these on the Whole Enchilada next month!

Best front enduro/DH/trail tire I've run

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I run the EXO sidewalls on all of our bikes because of the vicious rocks here in the mountains of the east coast. The Minion DHF is so smooth and bites on a tremendous variety of surfaces. Run with Stan's it rarely lets me down. Overall the Maxxis tires are the easiest to mount and have proven to be super reliable for us. I only wish the buyers at Backcountry.com would carry more 26 " Maxxis tires for the kid's bikes. The Continentals do not mount as easily tubeless or ride as well.

    Didn't last long enough

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Lasted about 3 1/2 months after I sliced a sidewall riding in the Prescott national forest. Disappointing, because this tire has tons of traction.

    Pretty close to perfect

Can we call this a classic yet? For as long as I can remember, the DHF has provided the best blend of traction, durability, and speed. Whether you ride DH, all mountain, trail, or even some aggressive XC, the DHF is going to give you what you need. Hi Aaron, does this tire have a really sturdy side wall in order to run low pressures and low risk of a pinch flat?

    more maxxis

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

to be honest.... i think the tire and name speak for itself. no review needed. best. tire. ever.

    Maxxis Minion DHF 3C/EXO/TR Tire

Minion is probably the best DH tire out there, a bit on the heavy side compare to others in this category but that also means durability and at the end doesn't matter that much when taking lifts and bombing downhill....

      Love This Tire

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used a a few of these on an older 26" Rocky Mountain Slayer, and I love them. It's burly, quick rolling, and a tire you never have to worry about.

      Great Front Tire

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this as a front tire on my bike and absolutely love it. Super easy to mount tubeless. I wish backcountry would sell more 26 inch tires. There are still lots of people out there with "ancient" mountain bikes but hardly any 26 inch options with a healthy BMI (it you know what I mean).
