Aggressor EXO/TR Tire
Take Maxxis' Aggressor EXO/TR Tire with you on the days you show up ready to blast through technical singletrack and take on big descents. We can't promise it'll make your lines more aggressive, but its rugged construction and confident traction will make sure you don't have to hold back when you point your wheels downhill.
You can run the Aggressor as a front or rear tire, seeing the softer side knobs lend stability while leaning into corners, but without excess drag slowing you down, as the center uses a harder compound rubber. It's a great tire choice for trails ranging from loose and dusty to medium-packed, making it a great option for dry summer conditions. Really, they're great for a number of trail systems, provided they're not clogged up with tons of mud after a recent rainfall.
- An aggressive trail tire for medium to loose conditions
- Ideal as a rear tire but works great up front, too
- Dual compound rubber maximizes tread life and rolling speed
- EXO casing offers protection for aggressive trail riding
- Side knobs dig deep for confident cornering
- Center knobs offer excellent grip for braking and accelerating
- File tread between the knobs helps with loose-over-hard conditions

Love these tires

These tires have been amazing! My boyfriend suggested them and we have now ridden in Washington and Utah and they have not disappointed once. We put them on my Juliana Strega and made it so much easier to climb and get around on.

Dropped this on the back of my Mason to replace the Continental Trail King (and thus converted my bike into a "96r" setup). Truly a "does everything well" tire in the miles I've put on it. Encountering everything from rock, roots, dry, and wet - this tire handles it all well. Easy to pitch into a turn on this and simply grip through it without hesitation or fear for the lack of grip. Rolls pretty fast too. Haven't dropped it into bad mud just yet, so can't say much for that though. Seems to be wearing nicely, should get a decent amount of trail time out of it before replacing... Conti Trail King 29x2.2 up front, this 27.5 out back = hard to beat on a hard tail.

2nd favorite
- Familiarity:

For the Utah dirt that we have around here, this thing does great in loose conditions. Fact: the crazy aggressive tread pattern was scientifically based off of the feet of geckos, the ones that can climb up walls (not actually a fact). Running this as a read with a Minion DHF is my favorite combination for dry conditions. The only flaw is when the trails start seeing moisture, this thing clogs up like crazy. Also, doesn't do great when you unweight it.

Great rear tire! Roll on ...

This is actually my second pair of aggressor 2.3. I bought it to replaces a DHR II that I thought roll to slow. I have it in the rear pair to a DHF 2.5 on my Nomad V and I have been extremely happy. It only gives some in cornering grip which you will notice if push it to the edge; is really good on climbs. For me the trade is fair and I am more than happy with it .

I have been running this rear tire for the past season and have nothing but good things to say. The tread pattern offers the perfect balance of traction and rolling efficiency.

This porridge is just right

I REALLY like this tire. It’s tough, with lots of climbing grip and good cornering. I found the Minion DHR to be extremely slow, and the Ardent to be severely lacking in climbing grip and sidewall stiffness on drops. I wanted something in between that would be an all-purpose tire. A tire that would give me enough bite to get over big roots and rocks on my double black diamond weekend rides, but still get some decent speed on the flat green trails I ride during the week. The Aggressor does the job nicely. Yes, it’s noticeably slower than the Ardent and not so grippy as the Minion. But it’s a good compromise. I’m running a Minion DHF up front, which makes for a good pairing. Both are tubeless at 21 psi front and 23 psi back, with plenty of sidewall strength to handle 3 foot drops without burping. I’ve ridden the tire frequently for 2 months, mostly on central Florida trails (Alafia, Balm Boyette, Carter Road, Santos, San Felasco) and a few rides in Ellijay, GA and Racoon Mountain in Tennessee. It does great everywhere except in sand, where it digs in and bogs down a bit (which I expect from any knobby tire). I don’t really have any experience in mud.

Beefo rear match for Minion DHF
I've run this digger on wild trails from western Virginia to Park City, Utah and many rough and rowdy places in between, from dry rocks and slippery roots to loamy/snowy alpine trails that descended into sandy and hot technical sections. I'm very impressed with the traction and durability of the Maxxis tires and these may be the best I've run. I am running the 29" version set up with Stan's.

Great Tahoe Tire
Agree with other reviews re: tire doing well in dry conditions but tried it this weekend in sloppy, muddy conditions. Tire shed the mud easily and never lost traction. Great all around rear tire. Thanks to Eric Watford for setting me up.

I have this tire paired up with a Minion DHF in the front and it is an awesome combo. This tire really shines in loose, dry conditions and loose over hardpack.

Great Tires for my Bronson
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been riding the new Maxxis Agressor as a rear tire on my Bronson for about a month now and couldn't be happier. I have all the traction I need, and minimal rolling resistance compared to the DHRs I had on there prior. For trail riding in Utah where we get a mix of conditions from loose over hardback to sandy and soft, I have been really impressed with the Maxxis Agressor.

Confidence in NorthWest Corner of CT
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Put this 27.5 on my son's 2017 Trek X-Cal 9 15.5 frame. Stock xc tire were worthless in the North-West corner of CT during the spring. Once, he saw the more aggressive tread pattern of the Aggressor you could see his confidence grow! He likes the better braking and climbing the tire has on the wet white-pine needles as well as overall traction through the mud. I'll follow up with a post on the 29" because I upgraded the whole family to Aggressors.....Happily !

Ride Fast, Have Traction
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I rode a Evil Calling with this as the front and rear tire. I was a bit hesitant to have it (especially as a front tire) and am absolutely stoked on it now that I've tried it. I spent three days riding in Moab on it and rode Captain Ahab, part of the Whole Enchilada (Half Eaten Enchilada?) and Mag 7 and it excelled the entire time. It rolls relatively fast and has decent enough of tread to provide traction and bite when the going gets rowdy. I agree with many of the reviews below that it would be a great rear tire, especially if paired with something like a Minion DHF up front. I'd love to have a side by side comparison with something like the Minion SS to see how they hold up next to each other. Long term durability isn't something I can speak for here, but no knobs torn off or anything after ~70 miles of slickrock and desert riding. If its anything like other Maxxis tires, we should be set. For trail/all mountain riding, this would make for a great rear tire to pair with a more aggressive front tire. If you have any other questions on it or what you should run as a front tire, feel free to give a shout to my direct line 801.204.4547 or email me at cojohnson@backcountry.com!

The Aggressor is quickly becoming the go-to rear tire for Competitive Cyclist employees. The combination of braking / cornering traction and smooth rolling hits the sweet spot for most conditions. Take all of that and pair with Maxxis durability and you have a winner.

Rolls Fast, Grips For Days
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
If you're in the market for an excellent rear tire that offers tons of traction this is a great candidate. The close block design allows the tire to roll well while still finding plenty of traction in dry loose conditions. The cornering lugs hook up very well and provide excellent cornering grip. Add 3C rubber into the mix and this tire turns into one of the best rear tires I've ridden. Really the only drawback to this tire is it doesn't clear mud well. But it also isn't designed to be a mud tire and Maxxis has the Shorty for that.

This is the rear tire on my SB6. Last bike had the Tomahawk on the back. This definitely rolls faster, but looses a but of grip. Overall, very happy with it

Excited to toss this tire on my bike and get outside on the dirt. I had been using the Minion SS and loved it at first but just kept having issues with them getting punctures. So I am going to try this one out and see how it goes. But I am a Maxxis fan for sure. Pairing it with a High Roller
