So far, it's all that I need!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've taken this out every time I've felt the need for extra water and so far, it's the only thing I need. The only down side to this is that you will be lugging around quite a bit of water. Personally, I prefer lugging the extra weight around because it's easier than starting a fire to boil drinking water. I don't trust water filters 100% so when and if I need extra water, boiling is my choice for purifying water. However, for the most part, most of my trips don't require me to replenish water, so this is my go to guy. I love the fact that I can simply throw this over the fire if I ever need to purify water. Initial impressions of this product is that it's quality made. I certainly hope it will last me a long, long time. I was concerned about this odor I've been reading in the reviews, but I do not notice any kind of distinct odor whatsoever and the water I put into it tastes just fine.

No excuse for dehydration now!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this bottle to keep it at work to help me drinking water regularly. I also use it for hiking. Classic, durable bottle.

My go to!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have taken this bottle everywhere. Hiking, road trips, class, you name it! The bottle is super tough, looks good, and keeps water tasting fresh. The inner rubber seal on the lid has occasionally come loose during hard use but can be easily fit back. Highly recommend this bottle.

If you have any questions about this or other gear let me know!

My go to!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a basic, non insulated water bottle. Great for just room temp storage. The cap is a bit difficult to get it to seal all the time without leaking. I have had the insulated ones from Kleen Kanteen and much prefer them.

No problems

I've had the 64 oz bottle for over 5 years of hard use. I take it climbing, hiking, camping and it sure takes a beating. I have never had an issue with it leaking. In fact, my buddy had an issue with leaking and Klean kanteen sent him a new lid. Can't speak more highly of how durable and awesome this bottle is.

    Strong chemical ordor.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I looked everywhere for stainless bottles that met my criteria, and finally decided to order these and spend the money.
They have a strong unpleasant chemical smell, and it you smell it every time you take a drink. Really disappointed.

If anyone knows how to get rid of this, please share.

    Leakage Problem

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When you pour liquid from the Kanteen, it leaks down the side. I use the Kanteen to store liquids other than water. So - the leakage issue is a problem for me.

    27 oz wide mouth

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great concept, I have a fairly extensive collection of Klean Kanteens. It's stylish enough for people worried about their beverages aesthetic but more importantly it prevents the waste of countless plastic water bottles. BPA free if thats a deal breaker for you. The food grade stainless keeps beverages at a nice drinkable temp. May be considered a little heavy for some backpacking ideologies. I myself keep an empty klean kanteen in the bottom of my pack with some extra cordage, a bandanna, a little Rx bottle full of petroleum jelly infused cotton balls, and a "Baker Spreader". The wide mouth makes it easy to remove contents. The fuller you pack it the less space its truly occupying in your pack. The Baker Spreader makes for great impromptu bail and can be used with the klean kanteen to boil water in an emergency situation.

    Great Bottle!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ended up getting the 40oz size so I could have a portable water bottle with me all the time, and still be able to use it on long day hikes. It hasn't disappointed me yet!!

    My Constant Companion

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My 27 oz is everything I want in a water bottle. Large enough to keep me hydrated, small enough to not weigh me down, and the perfect size for all bottle pockets and cup holders. The curved edges keep it clean and easy to hold. I've dropped it, thrown it, ran over it in my car, and it is totally unharmed except for a worn part on the cap. I keep a strip of gorilla tape wrapped around mine for grip, and to tell it apart from everyone elses metal bottle. I'd highly recommend the wide mouth, as it is easy to fill with both water and ice. Does a decent job of staying cold, too.

    Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Bottle...Solid!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got the 27 oz and it's a little shorter than the height of a traditional milk container (gallon jugs) and about as wide as a can of soup.

I also bought the cafe cap ( for the ease of grab and go drinks on my commute and at work. Nice to have both that and the loop cap that this one comes with.

One thing that matters most to me in a water bottle is the ability to throw it in the dishwasher and not have the chemicals comprise the integrity of the look, the lining or the seal. This lives up to what it claims and I've put my Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Water Bottle through daily use for over 6 months now. I totally recommend this and for those who don't like screw on lids - I also recommend the cafe cap linked above.

    Klean Kanteen Greatness

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had this bottle for almost 3 months now and really hard used it at a 3rd world simulation camp where we were given the bare minimum gear and taught to survive. We were allowed a water bottle and this is what I brought! It keeps water nice and cool for hours at a time or hot depending on what you put in. My group used this 40 to boil water (not recommended due to the vacuum lining) but it worked great and pasturized and purified nearly 2 gallons for my team and myself! Overall extremely impressed with the quality of this product and would definitely buy again. Worth the money!

    Klean Kanteen Greatness

    Super Solid

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I picked one of these up for my Mom, and it's perfect! I settled on the wide mouth so she could put ice in it on the hot days, and that seemed to be the right decision. It can be tricky if full and moving, but can be managed. The lid is solid and can be clipped on to other gear. Plus it's metal, so you have nice clean water! Hands down would recommend, everyone needs a good steel bottle

    I like it but...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I should have gotten the Classic instead. The wide mouth is good, yes its easy to fill up no matter what the water source is, but it sucks to drink from if you are on the move. You have to be completely motionless to drink from it. Otherwise you will suffer the consequences of everything ending up on the front of your shirt/jacket. The cap doesn't leak too. Really is bullet proof.

Great for bushcraft and the wilderness!

I use Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles (40oz, 27oz) for my wilderness/bushcraft packs. The Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles (40oz, 27oz) have 18/8 stainless, wide mouth tops and great caps. In my testing the Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles (40oz, 27oz) have been great, caps have no problems in hot and cold conditions and are really bomb proof. With the Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles (40oz, 27oz) being single walled stainless boiling water for disinfecting purposes is easy and leaves you with not question of it's capability. I want to see a USA made line, as it would employ Americans and be great for our country. Berz Rating: 90/100

    Dinged up... Still love it

Here's the deal: I've had this water bottle longer than any other water bottle ever. It has been PUT THROUGH THE RINGER... I still love the flavor of the water (doesn't taste like the other liquids that have been in the water bottle other than water) ... It cleans very easily and I'm never concerned about it breaking. I don't ever travel without it and I definitely don't go skiing without it in my backpack. (again... inside a ski pack with crampons, shovel, other hard goods- not worried about it busting... and I fall a lot ;) ) If you don't screw it on right- it will leak however you kind of get the hang of it and can tell if it's screwed on right or wrong.

    Dinged up... Still love it

    water bottle

it is a really good water bottle i can go out with my water in it for hours and the water inside doesn't get hot it stays cold and fresh, it is also good because its difficult to break.

      It holds water.

This is my kind of bottle: stainless steel, no frills, wide mouth. I hate the chipping paint of other water bottles. I have dropped this out of my bike cage on several occasions. As you can see in the picture a few of those times I ran it over. Even after all of that it still holds water with no leaking or weeping due to its new odd shape.

If I ever lose it I will definitely buy another.

        It holds water.

        Best water bottle out there

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First product review ever, I had to balance out the silly other one here. The gasket on mine did pop out once, but the company sent me a replacement and it hasn't happened since. I have the 18 and 40 oz versions and have been using them every day for a two or three years. This is the best quality water bottle I've come across. No liners, chipping paint, or supposedly safe plastics, with this model the water only touches food grade stainless steel and a little bit of silicone with the gasket.

I purchased this bottle mainly to store in refrig at home. This works will and love the size of the bottle. I use it to store water only. I have not had any problems with the lid or any leaks. Great bottle to use at home.

        Lids Leak

Beware that the lids to these bottles have gaskets prone to falling out. The lid without the gasket is as good as not having a lid, even if it screwed on tightly. So, not only will you be left with a problem of getting a new gasket or lid, which I am sure won't be free, but an expensive water bottle that leaks like a sieve.

The gasket on one of my bottles popped out and disappeared, so I wrote an email to the company about it. They overnighted two new gaskets for no charge. If this happens just make sure you put them back correctly, I haven't had any further problems with this, and actually came back to buy more of these.
