Hydrated and Happy.

The sun is streaming through the trees, and your pack is full of all the water you'll need to get to your next water source. Traditional water bottles continue to take up pack space, even after you've chugged their contents, but the Stash Collapsible Water Bottle by HydraPak flattens when empty for maximum room in your pack.

The Stash is ready for that steaming hot cocoa when you wake to frost or can be frozen for those hot summer days. It's made from a durable TPU that holds up to use and abuse on the trail and is significantly lighter than traditional hard bottles. When empty, the Stash collapses down to a lightweight disc that you can attach to your harness or chuck in your pack until you're ready for a refill.

  • An innovative water bottle that is collapsible
  • Durable construction is BPA- and PVC-free
  • Screw cap for easy hydration
  • Backcountry water filter compatible
  • Flexible carry handle
  • Can be frozen or filled with hot water

Great for a flight carry on!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This waterbottle is a super cool concept, but definitely is not the most durable. I expected this because of the thin material which packs well, so have only used it for travel. It's great because it packs so small, and you can just pull it out of your bag and fill, then collapse again later!

This would not be ideal for a climbing or technical use where it can be damaged and you could be without water.

Love the concept, not the durability.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're using these for day to day or traveling (love them for travel), I would say they are great. However, I have been super nervous taking them into the backcountry and on multipitch trad routes for fear I would puncture them. I have two and had one get a couple small holes in it which they replaced. Now the other one is leaking from the lid because the plastic top seems to have deformed and it won't seal properly. Also, note that you shouldn't put iodine tablets or the like in them. It leaches to the bag. While I'm not worried about the discoloration, I am worried about the subsequent effectiveness of the tablets doing their job.

Great point about the durability. I just got back from Yosemite, and I found that one of these was definitely not enough hydration for a hot day of multi-pitch climbing. I was going to pick up a second, but seeing your review, I wonder if you have a better recommendation?

Collapsible Storage

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have the 32 oz and have it paired with my water filter, as a light-weight place to store said filtered water. The plastic it is made out of is quite durable and packs down extremely small for having such a large volume. A great concept and extremely useful.
