Though the bar comes in an XC version, this one is better suited to all-mountain and trail riding, but it maintains a low enough weight to make it a capable racing bar as well.
To construct the handlebar, Thomson employs Toray carbon fiber at varying tensile strengths to allow the bar to maintain stiffness and the ability to flex at key points. During the molding process, Thomson relies on an EPS mandrel to establish the bar's shape, rather than an inflated nylon bladder, which its engineers believe helps better prevent wrinkles inside the layup as the fibers are molded. The carbon fibers are reinforced with custom resin to ensure they maintain extremely high impact resistance, and Thomson adds 1.5K woven impact ends to allow you to shorten the width of the 750mm bar without damaging it, as well as to protect the handlebar during its inevitable encounters with the ground and unyielding trail furniture.
By giving the bar just a six-degree sweep, Thomson establishes an aggressive, forward position for your hands while you ride, which is balanced by the bar's confidence-inspiring width begging to be steered over tough, technical lines. The bar's 12mm rise and included flex make it comfortable during longer, slower rides, and it's certified to EN and tested to DIN+, so you can be sure that it will display the same impressive durability that Thomson products are known for.
