ZTR Crest 29 Disc Rim

When 29ers first landed on the scene they created an impact so big that its ripples are still resonating in the industry with tidal wave impact, and Stan's NoTubes ZTR Crest 29in Disc Rim lets you ride the crest of that wave. The ZTR Crest 29er rim is a blank canvas, providing a platform of Stan's Bead Socket Technology (BST), which trims the fat off of the previous generation of NoTubes rims by shortening the sidewalls and dialing the bead hook to perfectly fit a 29-inch tire.

BST means that the tires may be a little trickier to seat than on other rims, but that's got some obvious benefits in the burp reduction department. The new design is also a paradoxical combination of lower weight and higher strength, an apparent contradiction achieved by the above-mentioned reduction in material paired with a corresponding increase in width. Wider rims are more structurally sound and less flexible under load, so they require less alloy to actually see gains across the board.

The increased rim width also accommodates bigger tires, which in turn nets an even bigger contact patch for traction on climbs, lower rolling resistance for speed on flats, and a more plush ride that rolls through small obstacles instead of over them. The rim itself is pinned, welded, and machined for a true sidewall that's light enough for XC racing but strong enough for daily abuse.
