Description

Ergo 4 Carbon Cycling Shoe

While the wire dial trend has really started to take off over the last few years, Sidi — ever the innovator — has had examples of what it calls the "mono-filament closure" dating back to its Micro Look System in 1993. The brand's latest wire dial is the Tecno 3 series, and it features on Sidi's newest road model, the men's Ergo 4 Carbon Shoes. Though the Ergo 4 is billed as an all-new release, the classic Sidi technology and features incorporated in its design make it feel more like an old friend.

The Ergo 4 features Sidi's Tecno 3 buckle system, which uses two different ratcheting dials for a customizable fit across the instep. The Tecno 3 system is low-profile and tidier than Sidi's signature ratcheting buckle, and it also allows for an even greater degree of micro adjustability and fit consistency across the entire shoe. As with all of Sidi's fastening hardware, you can fiddle with the Tecno 3 buckles in the saddle; however, the standard Tecno-3 lacks the Tecno-3 Push's little red release button.

The Twelve Carbon Composite Sole is built like the road racing version of a mountaineering boot, with a carbon fiber shank running down the center to keep the shoe's power-transferring heart stiff and responsive. This is encompassed by carbon-reinforced nylon, which provides a bit of engineered flex for comfort and reduces the price compared to Sidi's all-carbon soles.

The Ergo 4 also incorporates Sidi's Adjustable Heel Retention Device, which tightens the top of the heel cup to keep your foot positively planted in the shoe. The shoe's tongue and instep strap are both padded generously to allow for supreme comfort with tight buckles. Finally, all of the enclosure hardware and the heel pads are replaceable, so the shoes will outlive multiple seasons and even the occasional crash.

Just completed my first ride in my new Sidi Ergo Carbons. I switched from Shimano carbon sole shoes to Sidis. The Shimanos are nearly 20 years old, so it was time for a change. I found these on Competitive Cyclist at 49% off and had to try them. These are wonderful shoes!! The Boa system is easy to use and literally makes the shoe a part of my foot. It already feels as if they are broken in. All around two thumbs up, 5 stars, etc,. etc.

Bought recommend size, 43.5, at a great price but my feet were used to a wider toe box. They felt a little cramped at first but after about 10-15 rides they loosened up a bit and now they are amazing!

These are truly well built shoes stocked full of amazing technical bits. The size length seems right on and also on the typical width -- unfortunately, I have B/C feet, despite the length, so I'll return them . At the cost, I should try a more narrow type/style/brand. At to Competitive Cyclist, these guys are as professional as it gets. THANKS!

I've found Mavic shoes to be somewhat narrow. I have older Mavic Pro Road shoes and recently tried the new 15,16,17 offerings and found them narrower than past models. Some of this could have been broken in vs not, but if you're shooting in the dark, try there. I found my Mavic's very comfortable over the years.

I am US 9.5. According to your chart, I should be Sidi's 43.5. Is it always true to size?

I bought a 43.5 in the Mega (also a 9.5 US) as I had worn a 43.5 in the Sidi Ergo 2. The Mega makes your feet feel extra loose in the tie box and consequently there is motion in the heel cup despite making adjustments. I suggest sizing down to a 43 in the Mega or you will experience heel pain similar to plantar fasciatis.
