Elite 2.1 Jacket
When you're going for a long ride in variable conditions, your best bet is a packable rain shell. But when the forecast calls for unrelenting rain, and you refuse to be kept inside, you'll need something more substantial. Whether a commuter, or a winter training junkie, you'll have all the protection you need with the Showers Pass Elite 2.1 Jacket. And despite its generous coverage and incredible moisture blocking capabilities, it's designed to effectively evacuate sweat. This way, you won't end up soaking from the inside out. This truly is elite-level protection for enduring harsh weather in the saddle.
As anyone who's ridden long and hard in the rain is able to attest, sealing out rain doesn't do much good if your jacket turns into a terrarium as soon as you start pedaling. That's why Showers Pass chose eVent 3L fabric for the Elite 2.1 jacket. eVent is widely respected across outdoor disciplines as one of, if not the most, breathable shell materials around. It accomplishes this feat by having millions of pores per-square-inch, which are small enough to block out beaded water, while being large enough to allow your sweat vapor to evaporate through. And to ensure that the fabric doesn't solely bear the load of controlling the climate inside your jacket, there are vents at the chest and the back in order to provide plentiful airflow.
The Elite 2.1 is, as you'd expect, cut for logging long hours on the bike. This means that there's a drop-tail for deflecting wheel-spray and keeping your backside covered. Meanwhile, the core has a close, conforming fit in order to keep flapping to a minimum, even when you're in the drops. The sleeves are generously long in order to accommodate a stretched out position. And further enhancing the functionality is a zippered pocket at the back, accessible from the right side of the jacket. Smaller items are able to be stored in the zippered media pocket on the chest. Especially useful is the 360-degree 3M Scotchlite reflective paneling, which improves your visibility to motorists in critical low-light conditions.
The Showers Pass Elite 2.1 Jacket is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black, Goldenrod, and Ocean Blue.

My wife and I purchased Showers Pass Elite 2.1 jackets mid-year 2015. The short of it is if you are looking for an exceptional cycling rain jacket that can also double as sub-freezing temperature winter riding outer layer this is the jacket for you. I am an Assos fan, but you just can not find a better rain (versus shower) riding jacket in my opinion. On long hard climbs or all-out 20 mph plus flats it is easy to regulate your body heat and moisture control using the "pit-zips" with waterproof zippers. I love the long drop tail to keep the road spray off my butt. The cut (size L for me, 5'10", 168 Lbs.) is "drop bar comfortable", roomy enough to accommodate a base layer, winter riding jersey, and a snug cut Assos Airjack 851 jacket and not be constricted, yet a clean enough cut that it does not flap in the wind when wearing a light base layer and summer jersey underneath. Great 3M reflective trim to keep you visible to drivers when light conditions are poor. The left-side chest media pocket is a great pocket to keep your phone or credit card/cash stash easily accessible without having to grope through multiple under layers. The Velcro cuffs make it easy to snug up and tuck into your gloves. These jackets work so well that not only do we use them for cycling, we also find them being our go-to rain jackets on camping trips, our after-dark dog walks, and our winter running jackets. As this is written the jackets have been on the go for the better part of five and half years, they literally have a lot of miles one them, and they are standing up wonderfully. Highly recommend and we would by them again. NOTE: we also purchased the Showers Pass Rain Hood which attaches via Velcro tabs to this and other Showers Pass jackets. The basic design and quality of the hood is great, however I wish they would make the wraparound 'neck-throat" piece a little longer. I typically wear a 16-inch neck shirt. With stand-up collars on the Showers Pass Elite 2.1 I find the neck-throat closure on the hood could use an inch or so more length to keep it comfortable. I did contact Showers Pass and suggested that to them. Hopefully they will or have acted on that.
