If you don't know, now you know.
We have to admit that Italy has a penchant for creating instant-classics -- case in point is the Selle Italia SLR Titanium Saddle? Sure, it's not quite as light as the full-carbon Tekno versions, nor does it have the anatomic cutouts of the Flow line. However, what you do get is the same supportive mid-width shape that's made the SLR widely loved, mixed with durable titanium rails. This is arguably the most timeless option in the SLR line, so we ask, why mess with perfection?
The foundation of the SLR is its nylon composite shell, with its 'composite' designation is derived from its 30% carbon fiber content. Essentially, this mix provides the shell with a boost of support, while still providing a natural level of flex for comfort. And, true to its SLR designation, it shares the same 131mm width and 275mm length that's found throughout the SLR line of saddles. However, where it differs is in its level of padding. Selle Italia ranks this saddle as an 'S1' in its Identity Matching System, meaning that possesses a similar level of firmness to the full-carbon SLR Tekno and the SLR Monolink Team edition saddles. In terms of padding, you'll find that the SLR Titanium is relatively sparse, making it ideal for those with small-width sit bones with low pelvic rotation and that prefer a firmer saddle. And for anyone who also prefers a low profile design, the Titanium has the lowest height from rail to top-of-cover in the Selle Italia line (37mm).
As the name implies, this version of the SLR sits on tubular titanium rails. And, in addition to being lightweight and providing a positive degree of vibration damping, they're strong enough for Selle Italia to rate them for off road use. Remarkably, this was achieved despite the saddle's weight coming in around a low 140 grams.
The Selle Italia SLR Titanium Saddle is available in a 131x275mm size and in the colors Black, White, and Red.
