Taking a step up, the Hightower S Mountain Bike is the middle man of the Santa Cruz lineup, offering a whole lot of versatility for wherever and whatever the trail system throws our way. Its affordable aluminum frame is Santa Cruz's high-value option that dampens vibrations and keeps cost down to make room for better components. Its long and low geometry with a slacker 65.2° head tube angle and steep 76.5° seat tube angle (low position, size large) increases stability on the downhill and seats us comfortably going up. Pairing 29-inch wheels with the smooth VPP suspension platform offers capable rollability, even when facing lines laden with rocks and roots.
The S-build is kitted with SRAM's reliable GX componentry for smooth shifting we can depend on when riding every day of the season. It also uses SRAM's Code R 4-piston brakes that will easily lock out our tires when getting too close to the lip of a berm and smoothly help check our speed when rolling hot. And to finish it off, the bike is fitted with RaceFace AR Offset 30 wheelset cast in an asymmetrical aluminum shape that balances strength, stiffness, and dampening. The Hightower S is a performance-oriented build that doesn't go over the top on specs but ensures we have what we need to succeed. That makes it an absolute killer of a first bike or capable addition to your all-mountain quiver.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
