Salomon's Soft Flask Speed 500ml Water Bottle shrinks as we drink to eliminate bounce for distraction-free performance on race day. The molded bottom provides a bit of structure that makes slipping it into our vest's pocket much easier, while the high-flow valve makes sipping at speed a breeze. When it's time to resupply, the large opening makes refilling simpler, especially when adding an electrolyte powder.

These are awesome!
Well, I’m sorry for all the one star people that had the rigid bottom grind their chest. But I’m not one of them. (Flask privilege!) I love how easily these go down into my slightly too tight for normal bottles vest. Pair these with a hydrapak flip top and life is perfect.

Almost perfect
The flasks are almost perfect - right size, easy to fill, easy to access. The only issue is when full, the stiff base can be felt in the ribs. This is only when full and eases as the weight and volume reduces with consumption.

Easy to use, lightweight
Love this speed soft flask by Salomon - fits into the front pocket of my Osprey running pack and the solid base makes it even easier to slide into place. Great way to mix up my fueling beverages ! No plastic taste !

Pro/Con
Pro- hard bottom is easier to get into vest pocket Con- after 30 miles my ribs felt bruised from the bouncing, this has not happened with my “soft bottom” bottles

On the Go Refill
Better opening at the top and these slide into my flask pockets after hours of being on the trail with dampness. Best design yet and my last ones lasted forever but these slide in and out much easier

Love the flask!
In the past, I’ve used a large bladder. Since discovering the flasks, I by far prefer them over the bladder. I like being able to monitor water intake more closely than you can with the bladder, and avoid the risks of having a leak in a bladder, where in I would lose all of my water. The fact that you can freeze these in the summer is awesome too.

Ends are not an improvement
Not a huge fan of the ends - they make the bottle uncomfortable

Not a fan
I bought two extra bottles for my recent ultra marathon, but these new versions with the harder plastic ends were very painful. They rubbed into my ribs really badly over a long distance and I ended up having to toss them because the pain got too bad. I appreciate that they were likely trying to make them collapse less, but they made a heavy sacrifice on comfort. Do not recommend these for runs of any length.

Why?
Needed a fresh flask. Bought this. Why add the plastic bottom? When tightened in the vest it rubs painfully. Will be recycled. Oh well!

Upgrade to the soft bottom
Have a few of these with the soft bottoms and narrower opening and these are much better. Easier to clean and dry after being used and to fill with the larger opening.
