Terra CLX Disc Brake Wheel

We drop-bar bike fanatics seem to want it all — a bike that can handle frame-packing our gear on long weekend overnighters under the stars and then lining up in the first row at the CX course on Sunday. Roval whole-heartedly shares this demanding sense of versatility and delivers the astoundingly capable Terra CLX, a carbon wheel that is adept at all things that we put our rigid frames through. Mixed terrain riding doesn’t work unless the inner width is accommodating, and Roval sets the Terra CLX with a 25mm internal width that fits 28-47mm tires, satisfying both on — with a max PSI of 90 — and off-road riding goals. And Roval uses a hook-bead rim to achieve this broad scope of capability.

On-road, the Terra CLX, is brimming with talent as the entire wheelset weighs in at only 1296 grams, placing it just 48 grams heavier than Roval’s climbing-specific Alpinist CLX wheelset. Roval claims the Terra CLX is the lightest gravel wheel with a 25mm inner width. The 32mm dish profile may not be a choice for time-trial specific events. However, the Advanced Carbon Composite is aerodynamically shaped and coupled with Roval’s Aero Flange hub design, and the Terra CLX eagerly awaits mid-week race-rides.

The hub not only receives aerodynamic design but also utilizes DT Swiss’ EXP internals, which create a fixed connection between the inner ratchet and the hub shell to maintain correct alignment angles for faster engagement and increased stiffness.

Knowing that off-road riding presents certain — and hopefully frequent — opportunities to get rowdy, Roval tests the Terra CLX to meet the rigors of mountain-rim safety testing standards. And Roval backs that with a lifetime warranty and no-fault crash replacement for two years.

The Terra CLX fits either Shimano and SRAM XDR freehub bodies, center lock disc brakes, and comes equipped with rim tape and tubeless valves.
