When extended trail rides with massive gains of elevation are on the forecast, the Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay is our go-to. The Instinct Powerplay is a trail E-Bike that can shine all over the mountain. With 140mm of Smoothlink suspension backed by a powerful Dyname 4.0 drive system, the Instinct Powerplay has an insatiable desire for aggressive trail riding. Rocky Mountain implemented size-specific tunes to ensure optimal performance across all sizes, and their new Ride-4 adjustment system gives us four geometry settings to tailor our frame geometry to meet our riding style. With a 63.5-degree head tube angle in the slack position, the Altitude Powerplay slams steep terrain and chunky trails with pleasure, while the 75.5-degree seat tube angle ensures an efficient and upright position for climbing up to the top for another lap. To finish off the frame, the Instinct Powerplay is fitted with integrated downtube and chainstay protectors to keep our frame looking nice, and tubed internal cable routing has us bombing hills without our bike sounding like a maraca.

The A30 Deore build of the Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay is equipped with components perfect for budget-minded or entry-level riders. First up is Rocky Mountain's FORM alloy frame, giving us a stiff and reliable frame that is made with premium materials for an impressive strength-to-weight ratio. Shimano's Deore 11-speed drivetrain gives us a huge range for the perfect gear for any technical climb, and Shimano MT4120 4-piston brakes keep us under control or steep descents. The 150mm RockShox 35 Gold RL fork gives us trail-ready performance with rebound adjustments and a compression lockout lever, so we tune our fork to our riding style, and the RockShox Deluxe Select R rear shock provides impressive small bump sensitivity.
