This jacket has been a great layering piece, as well as a standalone shoulder season jacket. On really cold rides (around 32F) I can comfortably fit a long sleeve base layer, wool jersey, and a long sleeve thermal jersey under this jacket withouth feeling too constrained. This spring I've been using it as shoulder season jacket and it breathes quite well, and I haven't gotten the swampy, sweaty feeling when I start to warm up on climbs. It's easy to shed and shove in a jersey pocket. I would recommend sizing down in this jacket, as the sizing does run large and the small is bigger than typical small jackets I've had in the past. A small seems to fit closer to a medium in other brands. Overall a fanstastic jacket and I find myself reaching for this anytime the temps start to dip!
