Why We Like The Pivot Mach 4 SL V2 Pro XT/XTR 120 Mountain Bike
We love the Pivot Mach 4 SL Pro XT/XTR 120 Mountain Bike for cross-country races and epic weekend rides alike due to its lively ride characteristics. At the heart of this racer is Pivot's renowned DW-Link suspension platform, which is super-efficient and capable thanks to its ability to both sit high in the travel on climbs and stick to the ground on descents. The middle-ground, 67.5-degree head tube angle is steep enough to provide efficient pedaling and handling, yet slack enough to be able to keep up with the demanding modern XC courses. Up front, the Mach 4 SL features the Fox Factory StepCast 34 fork for a surprisingly lightweight and capable XC fork, sporting 120mm of travel and a remote lockout. The 29-inch wheels paired with the lightweight frame makes this bike rocket over the terrain, helping you carry speed and conserve energy.
The XT/XTR build equips this ride with amazing value for the price, featuring a mixed 12-speed Shimano XT and XTR drivetrain that has a 10-51-tooth range. The alloy DT Swiss M1700 are built with durability in mind and feature DT Swiss's 350 hub for a killer wheelset that won't break the bank. Next, Shimano's 2-piston XT brakes provide reliable stopping power and have a quick bite point for stopping on a dime. Maxxis Ardent Race tires are premium XC race tires designed to be fast, efficient and lightweight. To top this build off with even more Kashima coat, Pivot equipped this ride with Fox's Factory Transfer Dropper Post for an ultra-smooth change in saddle height.

So far so good. The center lock front disc was loose and it took a few attempts to figure it out. The DW link is great…expect to see it all over the place now that the 20 year exclusive patent is now expired. Fully mechanical and the last of the Line in exclusivity! Rides super smooth and fast!

After maybe ~120 miles or so, I can say that this thing rips! It’s light, fun, flickable, and fast. Love how it’s predictable and doesn’t leave you guessing in the ups and downs. Climbs exceptionally well. Descends with surprising comfort. Don’t love the cockpit arraignment of the dropper controls and suspension lock-outs. Definitely need to change that up. Also, really would have loved 180mm rotors for the trimming of speed on the faster downhill sections. That too is easy enough to remedy. All in all, it’s the right choice for what I’ve thrown at it.

Crazy good deal with high end components. First, an email arrived before the bike, explaining what was to be expected! Unpacking the bike was easy. The bike had been pre assembled with just the wheels and the handlebar/stem removed. Super easy to re-assemble. The brakes were even aligned!! I would definitely buy another bike from Competitive Cyclist!
