The pockets can be problematic.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Other bib liner I've used (Endura, Sombrio,Specialized), the rear pocket is essentially a little fabric sack sewn to the bib. Pearl's take is to sew a piece of fabric on the bib to make pockets. Now instead of your pockets hanging outside your baggies, they run in your baggies. So, for example, your pocket can be only as deep as the belt on your baggies if you're not paying close attention. So you whip out the multitool and tighten a chainring bolt, an hour later at the trailhead, the multitool is MIA. Because the pocket is sewn flat on the bib liner, on the fly it's only as deep as your baggies belt. Sick of your old CO2 inflator? Buy these shorts, and soon you'll be getting a new CO2 inflator. There's absolutely no way you could carry an extra water bottle in these pockets, It'd be similar to sticking a bottle in your baggies and cinching up the belt. Pearl's stuff is always nicely made, and these shorts continue with that quality. However, if useful, secure pocket (you know, the reason you buy bib liners with pockets) are important to you, buy something else.

Ditch your backpacks, and Fanny packs. The Pockets on this bib liner will stash all your essentials for a solid trail ride. The back pockets will comfortably hold water bottles, and other large items, while the cargo pockets will fit some nutrition, car keys, or cash for the Apres Lap. The straps, and chamois are nice and comfy for long rides, and the bib does a nice job of wicking away sweat. If I could modify this liner, I would add a fly, and increase the size of the cargo pocket to at least mid thigh
