Aro3 Helmet
Part of Oakley's newest line-up of premium cycling helmets, the Aro3 Helmet is the lightest, most ventilated lid offered by the iconic eyewear company. Instead of focusing strictly on creating an aerodynamic, streamlined helmet, the Aro3 Helmet maximizes ventilation with elongated linear vents at the frontside, paired with specialized rear vents that promote airflow when you're climbing in a slow and steady manner. Oakley designed their Aro series of helmets exclusively with MIPS technology, so you'll have greater protection from angled impacts with the asphalt.
Seeing it's ventilated more than any helmet in Oakley's line-up, it only weighs 295 grams, meaning you'll barely even feel it there on longer rides. Besides being airy-cool and extremely lightweight atop your head, the Aro3 integrates seamlessly with your favorite shades. This is due to Oakley's use of a Boa 360-degree fit system, complete with lie-flat nylon bands that won't snag or catch on sunglasses arms like other fit systems on the market. There's even a handy sunglasses dock along the frontside, so you can stash your shades before walking into the cafe or pulling off the road to consult a map stored on your phone.
- Lightest, most ventilated cycling helmet in Oakley's line
- Maximum ventilation in both high and low-speed situations
- Elongated front vents paired with exhaust outlets at rear
- MIPS liner reduces rotational forces from angled impacts
- Boa 360° fit system with lie-flat nylon bands
- Eyewear dock in front vents for stashing shades
- X-Static brow pad for comfortable, stink-free wear

Too small for my head

Looking for a new helmet, as my old is a POC OCRA. Review look promising however the helmet is just too narrow for my head even with a large. This will be suitable for a narrow head. I end up getting a POC Ventral instead Large which fit my big head. Too bad it doesn't fit.

I have had several high end Giro helmets and I have been very happy with them. I went to SLC to do a ride and when I got there I forgot my helmet. I decided to just go buy a new one since my Giro's are getting older and ready to be replaced. I tried this helmet on and it felt really comfortable. This helmet is the most comfortable helmet I have ever wore. In fact, I am now looking at replacing my MTB helmet with an Oakley one as well. Would buy this again.... And Again.... And Again.....

I purchased this helmet when it was on sale. My other helmets are getting old, the price was right and it looked good. My go-to helmet in the past had been a Specialized S Works Prevail II. I found this Oakley Aro3 to be much more comfortable than the Prevail II. I actually had to check to make sure that I had it on as I started yesterday’s ride. Airflow is very good. Not quite as good as the Specialized Prevail II but astronomically better than the Giro Air Attack Shield. My head is 7 ¼ and the large helmet had plenty of adjustment range so I can wear my sweatband at the same time.

I have had many helmets over the years and found this to be nearly perfect. Quiet, comfortable, and cool. I have worn it through the humid summer heat on the east coast. Cross season just started and it stayed in place while riding over the river and through the woods. After putting it on, I forget it is even there. I found the fit to be exactly per the measurements. There is a snap adjustment inside for the 'depth' of fit and I wonder if some folks have missed that. The only down side might be lack of adjustability of the side straps, but I surprisingly never found it to be an issue. I have tried some of the other new Oakley cycling apparel as well and they seem to be moving in the right direction. Almost forgot....It holds my Oakley sunglasses better than any other helmet. Good thing they did not miss that one!!

Fantastic helmet. The BOA system is brilliant on a helmet. It makes the old plastic ratchet cranium mechanism on other helmets seem outdated. Lazer helmets tend to fit me well and the Oakley helmet fits perfectly. Love it!

I’ve been so back and forth on this helmet for a month or so. Positives: -well built -fit and finish are top notch -“first impression” fit is really good -I personally think the ventilation is good for an aero helmet Negatives: -the Boa tensioner doesn’t allow fine enough tension. One click is too loose and allows sweat into the eyes, the next click tighter is then too tight....at least in my experience -my biggest issue is that my head doesn’t fit “in” it, rather it fits “on” your head. Could be personal preference? Overall I think it’s a pretty solid helmet, just doesn’t quite nail it for me at all angles.

First the good. It is super comfortable, the Boa dial works fantastic, and I feel I have a more secure fit than my other helmets. Truly no interference with my regular and riding glasses, which was key. Super comfortable, no pinch points. I also really like the looks alot. Today was my first ride with it, and while it was cool, in the mid-50s, humidity was 93% and was sunny once the sun rose. As a bald guy who sweats a lot from his head, I hoped this would cool off my dome through the large vents and supposed good aero-ish ventilation. Instead, I felt early on the heat of the brow pad, and could feel it filling up with sweat. While it didn't drip in my eyes, it felt like the dam was getting ready to burst by the time my ride ended. Some sweat went down my temples, so maybe it will be directed there, but when I came inside, by brow was covered in sweat and I could squeeze sweat out of the pad. Not what I wanted. I have a problem in the summer with salt in my eyes, an hoped this would work. It also isn't particularly light. My old $50 Giro Transfer helmet was slightly lighter and had the same/more vented surface area. Is it aero? No idea. This may be caught in the middle - not quite aero, not quite light, not quite cool. Sizing-wise, a medium fit as expected.

Great Oakley Helmet
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The helmet is stylish and functional. I love that the helmet does not interfere with my eyewear and that it allows me to easily stow away my eyewear when not in use. I do agree with the comments related to the small sizing, however I found it to fit much better after adjusting the height. The height adjustment procedure is clearly explained in the helmet instructions, but if you are like me and don't read the instructions you might miss this point.

Most Comfortable Helmet I Own

The first time I put this helmet on my head I could not believe how comfortable it felt. The closure hugged my head perfectly and the MIPS did not feel bulky. The helmet looks nice and holds my glasses perfectly. I raced a Crit in the helmet the other night and the ventilation was surprisingly effective. The helmet looks awesome in my opinion and hold my Oakley glasses better than any other helmet I have. I wear a small in Specialized helmets, but had to size up to a medium. The helmet runs small.

Size inaccuracies
Have been doing my research and the top size that Oakley shows in their home catalog only goes up to 60 cm for their size Large. My experience with helmets is that 60 is not a size Large. Before you order I think you should check with customer service, as to the accuracy of the displayed size, especially if you have a head bigger than 60 cm I wanted to order one but I am a 62-63 size. So I will not be ordering a Oakley helmet until this confusion is straightened out. And then, only if the size is 63 cm, as displayed on this sites size chart

Sorry for the confusion with the size! We were not aware of difference in size charts. Oakley has confirmed with us that the correct size chart is as follows: SIZE RANGE (IN) SIZE RANGE (CM) WEIGHT (CPSC) SMALL 6 1/2 - 7 1/8 52-56 295g MEDIUM 6 3/4 - 7 3/8 54-58 295g LARGE 7 1/8 - 7 5/8 56-60 295g We should have this size chart updated for all Oakley Cycling helmets very soon.

Stellar Oakley Product

This helmet holds true to all those things I remembered Oakley being. Cutting edge in style yet practical, light weight and comfortable. I have loved Oakley but drifted away over time because of price and other options available. This may have me back buying the shades. I have worn a size medium as long as I can remember (Specialized, Scott, and Smith) this fits along with those.

Badass helmet but it runs small. Wear medium in Smith/Giro, need a large in Oakley, will be exchanging

You are on the money with that assessment. According to Oakleys own size charts, the Large is sized as most other helmet companies size their medium helmets - 56-60cm in my book that is a medium. Right now Oakley has no size Large. I hope they fix this problem. But for now, larger headed consumers should be aware of this problem
