Cb Carbon Lazer Bib Shorts
Garneau analyzed every angle of bib short construction when designing its CB Carbon Lazer Bib Shorts, and the ambitious blend of fabrics it settled on includes everything from Lycra to carbon. Fabric alone certainly can't make a tough workout feel easy, but when the right materials are used and the cut is supportive, the kit you're wearing can make a difference. Constructing kit that works with you throughout a ride was a key focus with the CB Carbon Lazer, and it shows.
The short takes its name from the CB Carbon + Lazer main body fabric, a material composed of nylon, Lycra, and carbon fibers finished with a coldblack coating to help the fabric reflect, rather than absorb, UV rays. These materials feature heavily in the rest of the short's lightweight panels, with nylon adding durability and Lycra allowing the short to maintain its supportive, contoured shape as you stand up on a climb then shift into your drops to tuck into a descent. The fabric blends are stretchy and breathable, and each panel of the shorts is joined together with flatlock seaming that will move with you rather than create irritating chafing against your skin. Two types of lightweight, breathable mesh are used to construct the bib straps, which disappear underneath jerseys and stay in place as you move around without pinching or chafing.
Garneau lines the CB Carbon Lazer with its 4 Motion chamois, which features responsive foam arranged strategically to provide support where you need it without inhibiting your range of motion in the saddle. As the CB Carbon Lazer is at the high end of Garneau's bib short line, Garneau includes extra touches like a drop hem in back to make nature breaks on long rides more convenient, and sleek, laser-cut leg hems that lie flat and stay in place without the need for elastic or irritating grippers.

These bibs are a great go-to. I wear them under my baggies while mountain biking and they're great for a quick afternoon ride for up to a few hours treck. The chamois is comfortable, the straps stay in place, they don't get too hot, and the compression in the legs is perfect.

Great Performance, Great Price

These bibs have amazing value for $180 MSRP. The fabrics used are quite technical and the fit is on point for what you're looking for in a high-performance bib short. The mesh material not only offers great ventilation but also comfort in the fit. The only minor thing I found in this design that was a bit of a consequence were the straps roll a bit at times since they are flexible fabrics. This caused my straps to dig in a little at times and adjust but overall the fit is still great and this was likely more specific to me getting too big of a size. I definitely would recommend these shorts though if you are in the market for a good "bang for your buck" short that offers a bit of everything. If you need any assistance with sizing/fit or have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me and I'd be more than happy to help you!

At 5'11" and about 150lbs, and ~30" waist do you think the small is the way to go? My issue with some brands is that the small can be too restrictive on the shoulder straps, and because of this I lose important room in the groin. Thanks in advance.

I was pleasantly surprised by these bib shorts. They have quickly become my go to.. even over my Assos.... Never thought I would say that. The fit on these bibs is great. I am 6'1" about 177 lbs and a large is just the right amount of snugness and compression. Not too tight and the straps feel good in the riding position. The longer inseam feels good and stays in place very well. The chamois is been up to the test on my longer rides. Stays in place and is very comfortable without getting too squishy. All in all a great all around, high-end bib!

I really like these bibs shorts and could not be happier with them. These stay cool and are holding up very well so far. Padding is good, not too heavy. Very comfortable.

I normally wear a Medium in bib shorts, but had to get a Large for these. Maybe they are more aligned with European sizing, I don't know, but they fit very well for me. The legs are a bit long, only about 2 inches from my knee to the bottom of the shorts, and I'm used to about 1 less inch of leg length, but the trend now is a longer inseam. Overall they are comfortable, though I have worn more comfortable shorts (which is all down to the chamois in this case). I would rate them as 8/10 for chamois comfort and I have 2 pair from another manufacturer that are a 10/10 for me. Most chamois I have are 8/10's. They are comfortable, but not like a brand new recliner after a 4 hour ride on a Sunday afternoon, if you know what I mean. Overall, they are a good pair of shorts, and chamois comfort is 75% up to the individual. The materials are nice, though may be a little fragile around the inner thigh and front groin, but that is also what makes them breathable. the outer panels are a different material and are more durable. p.s. I am 5'11", but I have slightly longer legs and shorter torso for my height. 6'0" if my torso was proportionately correct.

Riding my first century. I wear jeans in 40x32. what's a good size and type of bib short for me? I wear a size 50 R in a sports coat. What is a good size and type of jersey?

You would probably be an XXL, but I am in no way an expert. I think you will have to just start somewhere and try. You'll know if it's too tight when you try them on. Shorts should be tight but not so tight, these aren't olympic swimmer outfits here, you need to be able to move in every direction without fear of tearing them, and that goes for the jersey too, which can be slightly looser without issue. The shorts should be 'snug' and not move around against your skin when you're riding (seated and standing).

Very comfortable Bib. I am a larger rider and I find that the chamois has stood up to many hours in the saddle.

I worn many LG styles and most were compressive. This one is great because the material is very soft and a little less compressive except at the thigh where it's very supportive. 4Motion is by far my favorite LG pad. Straps are great. A winner in my book!
