Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

If you thought that you were getting bang for your buck with the standard Louis Garneau LS-100 Shoes, wait till you see the Carbon LS-100 Shoes. With them, you get a noticeable weight reduction, a stiffer carbon fiber outsole, and an upgraded heel cup. We challenge you to find a better shoe at this price.

Starting at the outsole, Garneau sought to achieve the perfect balance between strength, rigidity, and weight. Not surprisingly, Garneau hit the mark with its new HM Air-Lite carbon fiber outsole. And when coupled with the Carbon LS-100's low, 4.3mm stack height, the HM Air-Lite's rigidity equates to a direct transfer of power to the pedals. Just like in frame design, the outsole has a stiffness-to-weight ratio that positively promotes an efficient carry of power with limited energy dispersion. So, in simpler terms, these outsoles make your hard efforts count in relation to speed.

And, not only does this transfer to a more efficient usage of your power expenditures, it also amounts to a feathery overall weight. In fact, the Carbon LS-100 tips the scales at a lower weight than many other manufacturer's top offerings — around 235g per shoe. This is credited, in one part, to the outsole, but in our opinion, more so to the lightweight upper construction. This has been constructed from a synthetic leather with mesh ventilation windows along the side of the shoe and over the entire tongue. This means that durability is guaranteed without the risk of the adaptive long-term deformity that plagues natural leather uppers. More importantly, though, a bulk of the weight reduction is a result of the Carbon LS-100's closure system. At the toe box, you'll find a single hook-and-loop strap that controls the lower volume of the shoe. Meanwhile, and a first for us at this price, the venerable BOA L4 single rail controls the retention at the top of the tongue. If you hadn't noticed, BOA is highly selective as to who it chooses to license to, and that this technology is featured in a $200 shoe is, well, nearly unheard of. Essentially, the L4 buckle provides the most even, forgiving, simple-to-use, and precise retention on the market. With a simple quick turn of the dial, your retention is secured and unwavering.

However, even with all of the above, Garneau wasn't done yet. To prevent the power-sapping effects of heel slippage, the Carbon LS-100 features Garneau's HRS-100 technology. Basically, this is a reinforcement panel that cups the heel from the inner and outer points of the outsole, forming a 'band' over the heel. As admittedly basic of a design this is, it works very well at maintaining the secure position of the heel.

The Louis Garneau Carbon LS-100 Men's Shoes are available in even sizes from 38.0 to 48.0 and in the colors Black and White. Please note that these shoes are only compatible with three-hole cleat systems, and that they include a pair of both Garneau COOLMAX Ergo Air Cool Stuff Blue and Hot Stuff Red insoles.

Great shoe for a great price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 44

I found these shoes to be a great fit at a great price. They are stiff yet still comfortable for my wide wide toe box. No bad pressure points or hot spots noticed.

Not bad for the job

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 44.5

I have been using these shoes for 2.5 years now. They get the job done. They fit true to size in my opinion. They have a stiff carbon sole and are relatively comfortable. The BOA is nice, but the toe strap doesn't have enough pull. I felt that I could tighten down the BOA really well, but I still had some room in the toes, as I couldn't get the toe strap tight enough.

too small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 47 cm

ill start with the good things. they are light and closure system is very good. lots of ventilation in the sole. now the bad they run very small and narrow. i wear a size 12 and other road shoes i have used were a 47 and fit fine. the LG 47 were at least a size too small and i think even a 48 would have been too narrow. i got hot spots on my feet just wearing the shoes for 15 mins while laying on the couch. i returned them without every using them on my bike so i cant comment on how good they really are.

Love this shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I wear a 9D in a street shoe, the 43 is a perfect fit, even with winter socks. The BOA system is great!! The sale price at CC made this a no brainer.

You Get What You Pay For

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice looking shoe, stiffness is adequate, not outstanding. The shoe definitely runs smaller than the size table. I have a wide foot and the shoe box is extremely tight. I have three other pairs of L G shoes and I love them all in a 42.5. I was hoping they would stretch out but the uppers are not of the same quality of the HRS 300 or HRS 400. I will return these and go to the Giro Hi Vis Yellow which are more money but you can't put a price on comfort when you are in the saddle 5 to 8 hours.

Excellent shoe for the price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Surprised and happy that LG added something besides their boring red, white, and black scheme. I love the yellow color, something that stands out. I use these daily for road about 6 hours a week and l like them a lot. Comfortable, easy and fast to put on, can adjust on the go. They are not as stiff as a full carbon sole like my DMT's but they are still very stiff. For the price and especially if they're on sale is a very good deal. Give them a look no matter the budget.

Great fit and good looking.

This is a high end shoe at a reasonable price. I would say they are true to size: I wear a size 41 in shimano and was very impressed with the fit. I never wore boa shoes and love the way they feel: There is less pressure points than the 3 straps + ratchet i am used to. The white color is blinding but oh so pro. The insoles and interior feel great and carbon is stiff enough. As for quality, time will tell.
Updated: Shoes are holding up nicely. Fixed star reviews. Thanks to Ted M.

You get what you pay for

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Im not sure if it was just a manufacturing issue, or a defect, but no more than 2-3 weeks after receiving them the dial to tighten the cables just broke and popped off the shoe, 20 mins before a race.. Prior to this incident i wore them for a couple hundred miles. And i was pretty satisfied despite a few personal preferences. Its not like i was over tightening the shoe by any means., i actually like a little wiggle room in my shoes. Other than that, it wasn't the most comfortable shoe, the tongue moved around a lot, and they were not as as stiff as claimed. Well ventilated, and i liked the 2 different soles that they came with

    A $400 Shoe for $200

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been riding in these since December of 2013, and if you're wondering what they replaced, I was riding in Northwave Extreme Techs prior to these. First off, the aesthetic is obviously awesome - it doesn't get more "pro" than an all white shoe. But secondly, and more importantly, the performance of the LS-100 stands toe-to-toe with shoes that are far more expensive. They breathe very well, the stiffness of the outsole is totally on point, and the BOA L4 retention is quite nice. If you pair these with some heat-molded insoles, you have a shoe that feels truly expensive, only at half of the price. I highly recommend these, even if you're running a more "spendy" shoe.

    I likey

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

Overall i'm pretty happy with this shoe, the toebox was a little small for me since i have a wider foot. street shoe is a 10 and i got these in 10.5. i found a little trick of shoving plastic lunch bags of water into the toebox and then you freeze them and it expands the toes a little for you... since doing that i'm pretty damn happy with these. nice and stiff, and easy to put on.

I find the exact same issue, the shoes run a size smaller. I thought they would stretch out somewhat but the material for the upper shoe is rather cheap and plastic not exactly a high quality shoe material. I realize they are not charging $400 but for $200 you should at least get a decent material not plastic. I find you idea rather strange you actually put the shoe in the freezer? I used high end shoe trees and had no luck stretching them. The shoes are good looking and the sole is stiff enough as I am not racing just an avid cyclist but I would like to see this shoe and color made in the HRS 300 or 400 line

    Nice Shoes But...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

They are good looking, all white color that I have bee looking for, very Euro look and feel. Nice strapping system, light and with a stiff carbon fiber sole. The only and main problem for me is that the white covering surface that are made of is finish matte, dull very porous material, instead of the more traditional shiner surfaces these type of shoes are made off, so I feel that this would be an incredible magnet for dust and stains and that the shoes would remain clean only for a very short while.

    Returning it.
