I purchased the helmet because I liked the look and the unique safety features and the cost was reasonable. On, the helmet is a bit narrower and taller than Bell and Giro helmets I've owned. I personally like the look. Ventilation seems reasonable. However, the large front vents do not hold sunglasses securely. The fit is different than any other helmet I've owned. It is very narrow in circumference. I'm toward the upper end of the S/M size (57 cm) and it's noticeably snug from ear to ear. Once on, it is a comfortable fit as it hug the head well and stays in place nicely. With a cycling cap on the fit is a bit less comfortable because the narrow shape doesn't allow the helmet to sit down against the head as well. Definitely for those with more oval head shapes. The straps and fit system leave the most room for improvement. There is almost no adjustability. The rear dial moves up and down freely, which acts similar to the adjustability of other helmet brands, but it's only floating and not a true adjustment. The portion of the straps in front of the ear are set really wide, coming out from the edge of the helmet instead of from the inside of the helmet. This makes it hard to get the straps to sit flush in front of the ear. Sunglasses need to go inside the straps because of the space left between the straps and head. Maybe there's a safety element behind the placement decision, but it feels more like a design flaw. When riding, these issues become less noticeable with some on-the-bike adjustments. And at the price point, it's a nice looking and well finished helmet. I believe Kali is newer to the cycling industry with their start being motorsports. The bike-specific brands seem to have refined fit and features to a much higher degree and trickled down much of that knowledge to their mid-level helmets. Kali could learn from those with more cycling helmet experience.
