You rely on your Garmin computer for all your ride metrics, and occasionally for directions to keep you from getting lost. But those little rubber o-rings and plastic mounts never seem to be quite secure enough. You try to place your Garmin on your handlebars and it gets in the way, but your stem is too thick for the o-rings. The K-Edge Stem Mount for the Garmin Computer makes that pesky mount obsolete.

Unlike its handlebar mounts, the K-Edge Stem Mount fit above the stem directly on the steerer tube. It fits a standard 1 1/8-inch steerer tube. It replaces a standard 5mm spacer and it is locked securely in place by the top compression cap. It is recommended for zero degree or negative degree stem angles, and works well with larger Garmin devices such as the 510 or 810. It was initially designed with mountain biking in mind, but is equally ideal for triathlon and other cycling disciplines where hydration systems, maps, or bags may take up handlebar space.

The K-Edge mount is a CNC machined aluminum platform with its injection molded polymer interface that features the recognizable locking point and the distinctive "click" when the Garmin is securely engaged. It is compatible with all quarter-turn Garmin Edge computer and may be oriented for the Forerunner 310XT. It is not compatible with the 901Xt however.

The K-Edge Stem Mount for Garmin Computers is available in Red, Gunmetal, and Black.

Unanswered Question

Does it fit a Garmin 510?

Is there a wahoo adapter?

Hi Adrian, K-Edge has a Wahoo version of this mount under our item code KEG001C, K-Edge also sells replacement Wahoo inserts if you already have one of these mounts.

Best computer mount IMO

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I switched all of my bikes to this mount from the K edge out front, it is much cleaner and protected better as well. Very light wt made well.

Better protection for the 520

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this as a replacement for the Garmin out-front mount after destroying a Garmin 520 in a crash. This mount positions the Garmin over the stem and doesn't rely on rubber bands. I use it on my Niner Air Nine which doesn't use a long stem. I made the purchase after seeing the review posted by Jonathan L. on this site.

Sweet Computer Mount

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Finally a Garmin mount that doesn't suck. This K-Edge is easy to mount and very durable. I have tried a few other computer mounts but when the trail get rough, they tend to move around and are difficult to read. I am getting a few more of these for my other bikes.

Not Plastic

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love K Edge Mounts, Made in Boise, Idaho, they are strong, reliable and easy to use. I have this mount on three bikes, I have had a few pretty good crashes and my Garmin Edge 520 has stayed perfectly safe. This is a great option for mountain bikes in particular, I run short stems that have next to no real estate for the typical rubber band mount. I will continue buying K Edge to support small local manufacturing that is focused on quality, not just making cheap junk.

Works exactly as intended

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Anything that protects my expensive Garmin 1000 is a good thing! I took a pretty good size fall yesterday in the rocks and K-Edge paid off. I fell hard enough to Twist my handlebars but the K-edge seems to have protected the Garmin nicely. After seeing the impact points on my bike, I'm pretty sure the standard Garmin mount would have snapped off and probably damaged the 1000. Excellent product...but please add a spacer for the steerer tube as I think almost everyone needs it!

Unanswered Question

Would a Gamin edge 520 fit on a bike that does not have the top of the fork cut

Please Upgrade

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are running the Garmin supplied mount with your fancy computer, please upgrade to K-edge. It is beautifully machined billet aluminum in the color of your choice (mine is red). I use this mount on my mountain bike and the out front mount on my road bike.

Elegant solution to the mounting problem

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is an elegant way to mount the Garmin while keeping the stem available as an attachment point for battery packs or otherwise. Hard to justify the expense (and added weight) relative to the normal band-on mounts if all you want is a quarter-turn mount on the stem, but I needed to be able to wrap a strap around the stem for the battery pack.

Will this fit a Garmin 520?

Yes, I have this mount for my Garmin 520, works perfectly.

I have a Giant Trance with the Overdrive 2 steer tube, which is 1-1/4". Is there a mount similar to this K-Edge that will fit the larger steer tube?

Not to my knowledge Steven. I am unaware of an oversized 1 1/4 solution.

Best Garmin mount out there!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I like this mount becuase it limits the chance of the item breaking in a fall. The other longer ones attached to bars are more prone to breaking (mtb) and of course the same for the road if you crash.

The one great thing too if you do break this mount is only the plastic piece mounted inside the mount is what breaks and can be purchased for $6. So no need to get an actual mount again, just the plastic mounting piece. I have this on all my bikes and the viewing angle is perfect for all of my bikes.

Best Garmin mount out there!

Thanks for the photo. I destroyed a Garmin 520 last year in a crash that did no damage to anything else on the bike. Maybe this will protect it better than the out-front mounts.

little big things

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just finished building a very nice Tarmac and I needed a mount for my edge 1000, I did not want to clamp a Garmin mount to my brand new Carbon bars so I ordered this, it looks and works perfect, I did not want aero bars but if you have them this seems like it would be the ticket.

the only 2 drawbacks are it could be longer (I think it was designed for a mountain bike) and you need at least 5mm of steer tube left to mount it.

I have an XL Garmin mount and 2 chain catchers and they all look very trick and work extremely well...

little big things

Slick mount!

This is a super sleak, low profile solution to attaching your garmin to the stem. I love that it doesn't add any additional loops or bulk around the stem. Functionally, it has held up very well to a summer of riding.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Holds the Garmin tight through the roughest terrain. Solid Design and build.

Attached to a Santa Cruz 5010 with Chris king headset.

Not out front on the mountain bike!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There is no situation where an expensive computer needs to be out front on your MTB. This puts your investment in danger of damage in a crash. The K-Edge stem mount is the simple solution. Bonus! The stem mount looks great and is made of the highest standards.

    It comes in red!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My bike is Ti, with lots of red parts, so this was a no brainer! And it works really well to. Keeps the Garmin secure in a great easy to see spot, without being out in front of my bars.

2 downsides, but not a super big deal:

If you grab your bike by the stem will walking it, it does get in the way of that.

If you run your stem in the positive position, and don't have some space on the steer tube above the stem, the stem could interfere with this mount. I have my stem pointed up, and I could not put this mount directly above the stem. Luckily I was still working on my final position, so I just left some extra space. I have a single 2.5mm spacer between this and my stem and it works great
