Why We Like The Trigger Full Face Helmet

While full face helmets undoubtedly provide more protection than their half-dome siblings, it often comes with a penalty in the weight department. IXS' Trigger Full-Face aims to remove the weight debate from your helmet choice, providing all of the tech you want at a minuscule weight.

Very light, great ventilation and vision

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I use this on off road motorcycle. I ride mostly slow, tight single track. I have some neck issues that even a quite like motorcycle helmet (mine is 950grams) starts to bug me. This one is considerably lighter and has proven to be great. Ventilation is very good and excellent vision. I usually use safety glasses or mesh glasses- but I used goggles yesterday with good results. The Airoh motorcycle helmet is much plusher, but this was just fine for all day comfort, not quite as nice, but the light weight made it not very noticable. I normally wear a medium in most brands, but this small/medium fit just fine. I do loosen adjuster to put back on, but only takes another couple seconds. So far, I like it.

Light and breathable, UPDATED

Wore this for a 30 mile / 3500ft loop around DuPont in Pisgah. Mix of XC/Trail/AM and wanted the protection for the chunky downhill sections at Burnt and Big Rock. No issues on the climbs and able to drink from my camelback. Very light and well ventilated. My head measures 60.5cm around and the M/L 58-62m fits me just right with the stock pads. The magnetic strap works well and is a welcome change to the traditional plastic clips. Tip: Lightly grease the metal screw holes for the visor. My previous IXS Trail helmet rusted and swelled out at those two threaded inserts cracking through shell. Not pretty. Also note that the black on black is actually black on grey (see pic). Overall love this helmet and plan to use it whenever there is potential to smash my face. UPDATED 11/8/2020: the 2mm metal rods that hold the straps in place in the shell are all rusted out. IXS cheaped out and didn't use stainless or some other corrosion proof material. Had to pop them out and replace the rods with some 2mm stainless cut to size I ordered off Amazon. So tired of IXS and rust on my helmets. Stop using cheap hardware on 250$ helmets!!!

IXS Trigger

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

My first new DH helmet in over a decade. Super light and Very comfortable. The ratchet closer system makes a secure and precise fit every ride. You don?t feel any head pull around fast berms or bobbing while riding rock gardens. Super stoked ??

Trail helmet weight, DH certified

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought the Trigger AM at the start of this season, and I liked it so much I bought the FF too. I'm a sucker for design and I dig the understated, aggressive look of this piece. The functionality backs up the sharp design. Super light weight, well ventilated, and very comfortable. Heavier helmets fatigue your neck muscles after a long day, but with the Trigger FF I don't even feel the urge to remove it when riding the lift. I also appreciate the adjustable cradle and cheek pads, both of which I played around with until I dialed the fit. I haven't crashed it yet, so I'm trusting all that safety tech will do what it's supposed to and keep my teeth attached to my face. My head measures at 56.5 cm and the S/M fits perfectly. Well done, IXS.
